The Chicago MINI Motoring Club is Open for Business

#0037

For those of you who may be in the Chicago area the Chicago MINI Motoring Club is now accepting membership. The Club's bylaws are finished, the state paperwork is done, and our bank account is officially open.

While our first official event was this past Saturday we're putting the finishing touches on what we'll be the largest event of the summer the Chicago/Milwaukee Baseball Rally. We're also working on events for late September and October and might have something during August.

We're currently working on launching the actual club site (www.chicagominiclub.com) but in the meantime I'm going to try to post club news now and then on bridger/.us/mini.

Membership is $25 and will get you discounts at local Chicago area MINI dealers and possibly some local vendors in the near future. You'll also receive two stickers and invitations to all MINI Motoring Club events.

You can download the application here and send it in with your check to the address listed on the application. If anyone has any questions about the club feel free to email linda@chicagominiclub.com.

Just a suggestion: since I know we have a graphic designer or two on the team. Would someone like to make up a flyer that I (or any of us) could hand out to MINI motorers that we see on the street? I'm constantly seeing MINI drivers that I don't recognize, and I think that we should make this club more accessible to people who may not be as MCO savvy as the rest of us. What do you guys think?

Great idea Maxwell – we actually had talked about that issue as a board and I'm hoping to have something by the end of the week. My goal is to be able to hand something out to all the participants of the Knauz drive this Sunday. I should be able to just use that same info for a generic Chicago area handout for anyone to leave on cars. I'll save it as a PDF and make sure it's downloadable on my site.

The general look and feel will most likely follow what you see on by the club application.

    Cool.

Madison is using business cards for MMG. We left ample blank room on the card for “personalizing” if we want to leave the card on a Mini windscreen.

I saw this thread and then a couple hours later, I was at a long light (Mannheim and Irving) behind a MINI. He gave me a thumbs up as I returned it with a peace sign through my sun roof. :) If I had a card or something to give him at the time, I would have run up to car and given it to him (it's a two-minute light).

I saw another MINI parked in a driveway near my home recently. I'm pretty sure it was just a visitor, but again, I would have stopped and put a card on the windshield if they were available.

I think this is a great idea. Not every MINI owner will want to be in the club, but they should at least be made aware of it and have the opportunity.

    My $.02

    Here it is: bridger.us/cmmc/handout.pdf.

It's meant to be printed out and cut in half. I made it larger than a card so you could write a small message if you felt the need. Also you can easily fold it over protecting it from the elements.

Congrats on the CMMC Gabe! Sounds like it started off great. I'm sure we'll all have a great time!

Although I like the flyers you've created, I still think a business card is nicer :) Maybe in the future? Going with the theme of the MINI and not to mention the limited space, I can cargo a stack of business cards better then a pile of flyers.

    And that's my $.02

As soon as we get more money in the coffers we'll be able to do stuff like that. Until then it's 8.5 x 5.5 sized handouts under the wipers :)
