The 2004 Accessories catalog is out and there are some notable additions. Here are a few:
- Walnut dash trim kit $521.50 (Finally available in the US)
- Bluetooth Hands free phone system $450 (First posted here this past summer – The MINI and Bluetooth)
- Front foglight blackout panel (for the aerokit) $79.00
- Front chrome grille: Bonnet $72.75, Front upper bumper $24.25 (MCS) (mentioned here last June)
- Sport exhaust (MC only) $675 (was available last year but noone seem to know about it as it sold very poorly)
- Tail lamps with white turn indicator (same as current ones but white where there is orange) $250
- Sunroof wind defector $129 Nose mask (synthetic leather for MC or MCS) $98.50
- MINI link system (MINI-Fini Sport link system) Bike rack $TBD / Sport link $TBD
- Interior Carbon Fiber trim kit- Door panel tubes and all of dash except for the airbag panel over glovebox $150 (I believe this just lays over the current plastic and isn't a true replacement)
- Rubber floor and boot mats with “S” logo $69.95 & $58.95
- Sheepskin seat covers (Grey, Black, Beige-only center strip of seat) $240
- Alarm system (from 9/03) $295 (I believe this is much more plug and play than the previous system and very similar to the current 3 series system)
- Protective Boot cover- lines entire boot area $186
- Leather armrest $260 (I believe this is the MINI-Fini armrest that I reviewed in August)

a big thanks to MINIhume for letting me use his initial list over at NAM.

On MINIUSA.com, why cant the 3-Spoke Steering wheel's trim color match the selected optional trim color (i.e. Anthracite)?

Also, does MINI have an optional 3-Spoke Sports Leather Multifunction steering wheel option?

Yes – go to MINIUSA and then to build your own to check it out.

The carbon fiber kit is not great – it is stick-on pieces but with the airbag section left at original, it looks silly.
From memory, the piece over/around the steering wheel is also not touched.

The result to me looks half finished and cheap – which it isn't!

When will these new MINI accessories be open to configure on MINIUSA.com's 'Build a MINI/MINI Cooper S' website?

How long has the internet been invented? I though one of the advantages to having a website is to promote products faster and broader than hard print materials and cost saving concerns too. How could paper catalog get to the dealer faster than the website? Ohh. they want us to go back to the dealership and see more new MINIs and might be we will buy another one!! We can also take the advantage of being there to fix the rest of the problems which we experiencing with the older models.
MINI marketing strategy just like their TV commercials…Funny..!!!

I think the thing with the accessories, is that it's really up to the dealer what your final cost is, so i'm guessing MINIUSA does not want to vorce the dealers into fixed pricing. At least, that's my guess…

Anyone know where I can purchase a black grill for a MCS? I have had no luck finding it… Gabe mentioned it in his June write-up link above. Any help will be appreciated.

Does MINI mail this to you or do you have to go pick it up at the dealer?

As an aside, I just got my “welcome” package from MINI yesterday. The pen that came with it is so cute! I just love their marketing.

does anyone know if the walnut wood kit is a true replacement or a lay-over kit? i am sure hope for almost us$600.00 it is better be a direct replacement.

It's a true replacement – unlike the rather cheap looking carbon fiber kit.

BTW it's offically called Walnut Trim and doesn't reference the term wood at all. I suppose the obvious assumption to be made then is that it is in no way actually made out of wood.

Since Mini's carbon fiber is “rather cheap looking” does anyone know whether anyone else's offering is better looking? In particular, what about MiniMania's

MINI will be introducing a JCW full carbon fiber dash this August that looks incredible. I'd recommend checking out that.

Anyone know where I can see a picture of the walnut trim kit? On a mini? The build a mini only shows the CVT stick in walnut….Thanks, Chris
