JCW 18″ Wheels Available in the US

As was mentioned recently on Bridger.us/MINI the JCW 18″ wheels are coming to US MINI dealership soon. Now we know that soon should mean sometime within the next month if not sooner.

The part numbers are 36 11 6 764 104 (for the wheel), 36 13 6 765 772 (for the center cap), and 32 11 0 303 293 (for the steering stop retrofit kit).

Dealer prices are around $250 with actual retail falling around the $380 mark for just the wheels ($20 more for the caps). While those prices fall below that of the 17″ R90 wheels those of you in MINI clubs who have 10-15% off parts at local dealers would be wise to use your discount! Again expect orders to be available sometime in the next month.

Any word on the JCW seats?

  • http://www.gbmini.net Ian Cull

I contacted John Cooper Works (in England) and was told that their seats are not available in USA (“due to varying state regs”). So I guess the seats in the MC40 are special.

Gabe, Do you have a close-up of the wheel center caps?

  • http://bridger.us/mini gabe

Actually the MC40 doesn't have the JCW seats but a modifed sport seat.

But regarding the JCW seat I asked a MIIN exec about that and was told it's impossible for them to sell something in the US that costs quite a lot more than the standard sports seats yet reduces the number of airbags in the car. I was told they'd love to but they just can't make a business case for it due to the airbag concern.

  • http://omor.com/mini/ dc

Side airbags are typically mounted in the outboard seatback. Corporate tuners are unlikely to want to reduce the airbag system.

I want to see 15 x 7 wheels listed as a factory option.

Ehhh… Those wheels don't do it for me. I am excited to hear about a brake kit, any info on that?

18″ wheels doesn't seem to work for me as far as a performance compliment to the JCW kit. Seems a bit “showy”, and if I were to go Showy, I'd get breytons or hammans… Or my HRE's.

  • http://bridger.us/mini gabe

…We should see a full catalog of JCW pieces in the US later this year (including the brake kit)

  • Dave

    Gabe,

32 11 0 303 293 is not a spacer kit, but a “Steering Stop Retrofit kit” that requires 1 hr of labor.

  • http://bridger.us/mini gabe

Thanks – it was explained to me as some sort of spacer kit. I'll change the description.

  • Frank

I like the JCW 18″ wheels over the R90's but I would like them even more if the same JCW design was offered in a 16″ size, just like the R90s are offered in both 16″ and 17″ sizes.

I am not a big fan of big wheels in the MINI. I prefer smaller lightweight 15″-16″ rims that suit the car better in day to day driving.

I might end up giving serious consideration to the dual color tone (Anthracite) R90's if MINI ever offers them in 16″ rim size.

$1,520 for just rims is a lot of moola!

  • http://bridger.us/mini gabe

FYI – My source came back to me and said that after looking at the diagrams further the caps won't be the same size on most of the standard MINI wheels.

  • R

The rims are spot on….just can't afford them…………R

  • dgszweda

Question is what size and type of tire is BMW going to put on these wheels.

  • DCS

According to JCW brochure, the tire size will be 205/40R18 runflat.

  • Jim Kl

What are the weight of the JCW 18:” wheels? Isn't that what is most import rather than the bling bling of 18″ wheels.

  • http://www.vancouverminicooperclub.com Gothboy

I had the 18″ JCWs put on last week with 215/35/18 Pirelli P7000 SS tires.

The tires are lighter than the standard fare on the Cooper S 17″ and the rims are a bit heavier … so the weight almost works out to about the same. Really nice tight ride with the sports suspension.

  • Pico

Do 215/35/18 tires work alright on the mini or do they rub?

  • Gus Anduajr

I purchased a set of 18×9 for my 318i 1995 also 225x40x18 will these fit or will they rub !! please hELP!
