<p>just finished reading/reviewing, MINI2's comments re: the convertible. i'm a little confused. while BMW did a great job with packaging, i hope Paul was being overly critical re: the quantity and quality of plastics used. always having been a point of contention for me, the amount of cheap looking plastic on the rear roll bar, it's rather distressing learning that the chrome is just chromed plastic rather that polished aluminum/steel. i can't imagine that portion of the vehicle feeling anything other than cheap.</p>
<p>i do, however, really like the new light clusters, the body color interior, the new door arm-rest, and the contrast stitching on the seats. i know some will like the chrome, but it's too much for me, i like a more subdued interior.</p>

<p>I have to agree with Matt. I like a more “subdued” almost classic interior. The MINI was an everymans car in its beggings. So to make it too flashy is moving away from its appeal for some.
I definitely feel the designers missed the mark with the new center cluster. It seems too busy for an at a glance operations check.</p>
<p>Question, went to Mini2 for the full Geneva review, and noticed something. Dumb question I am sure, but everytime they show the boot/trunk open, the top is up. Is it possible to open the boot when the top is down? I realize a dumb question, but just wanted to clarify.</p>
<p>to andy: yeah you can open the boot (top and bottom portion) with the top up or down. my question is with the top material. is this the same 3 layer that is used in the 3-series? is there cloth lining on the inside of the top?</p>
