In the third-quarter update of AutoWeek's long-term test of the MCS, Carrie Roca writes:
It doesn’t matter what kind of day we may have had, we get assigned to drive the Mini Cooper S and all of life's little annoyances just melt away. It keeps us young and it makes us feel good about ourselves. What more can you ask for in a soul mate?
I think they like it. You can read the rest here.

Thanks to Vanwall for the link.

Speaking of highlighting the MINI COOPER S – Did anyone see the latest Tuner Transformation on SPEED Channel, it was great, but they did most all the work at a dealer facility… complicated little cars…did a great job, but the only part I did not like was they kept refering to the car as a BMW MINI COOPER S, oh well I guess some people cannot get past that, it was a good show as they installed the JCW kit and installed a LSD in the trannie AFTER they installed the JCW, oh my, talk about tearing a car apart two times in one 30-minute show. The spider graphics were cool as well. I did look on their website and they need to update it with this new episode, because it was not listed.

Take a look here, Tom.

AMAZING
I have been getting this weekly for years And I do not recall the last time they have even considered buying one of their testers! these folks get dozens of FREE cars offered to them each year and few even make it into the long term test fleet!
this kind of review from an outfit that can be as hard on their test cars as they are is like an oscar from the press and means more to me than the car of the year award they got last year

This is a great article. Really sums up exactly why I bought the car in the first place..

Tom.. I should be getting some more 'inside' info about the show on my blog soon, if you're intresteded…

(back on topic)

I just loved in the autoweek article how they mentioned in lenght about how much stuff you can actually haul in a MINI… I've had some things in mine that there's no way I would have been able to fit in my old car (old style chevy cavalier) or my wife's car (new style chevy cavalier)..

I'm jealous… How come every auto mag I ever come across always do the long term test with MCS? What about MC? Are MC not worth the $$ in the long run? ;-P Food for thought…

If you were a magazine and could get a free MINI for 30,000 miles which would you choose?

There have been a ton of threads about the MC vs the MCS on North American Motoring over the past two years. I'd suggest checking one of those out. I think just about everyone of them ends with the message that the MC is a great car with just a bit more long term reliability.

One thing on Carrie Roca's “AutoWeek” article is that she misspoke about rotating the tires according to the manufacturer's schedule. BMW/MINI do not recommend rotating the tires due to the peculiarities of tire wear on performance tires. 'Twas the dealer who recommended this.
