North American Motoring Founder Mark Ferguson gave me some inside scoop a while back about an unplanned activity at the Dragon Rally that had been under wraps. Apparently MINIUSA decided to bring a new Cooper Cabrio out to the event for MINI owners to get better acquainted with.
Here's a quick recap from Mark:
“Jeff Stracco, the new MINI product manager was with the car and tamed the Dragon with it. I even had the chance to shoot some pictures from the back seat of the car while driving the Dragon with Jeff. “
You can check out some of the photos here: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7

That looks REAL nice in red/black. I think that's it. My next MINI is going to be a Cabrio.

What a fabulous scoop 🙂
Well done MINI for bringing the car – and well done Mark(?) for persuading them.

I'm not sure how i feel about the new guage cluster where the spedo goes. What do you guys think?

always new pics @ MiniDryvr.Textamerica.com

The new gauge cluster is growing on me quick.

Rocketboy, that is orange.

The color is actually orange (burnt orange) and the center cluster is an option that you can order which moves the speedo over the steering wheel with the tach. I believe Jeff said the option was called the Chrono package.

Thanks again to MINI for working with NAM and bring the cabrio down for all to see :)

Thanks Mark for the pics!!!

Humm. it looks red on my screen, but I did think that the dash looked rather orangie…

Thanks for once again being the first place I look for MINI news.

Though web-design-wise,
I liked the previous 'gallery'
style photo postings, where each photo was on its own .php
pahe and there were links 'previous' and 'next', not just deep links
to .JPG files.

I didn't do a gallery in this case because there were only 7 photos. Also they were taken by Mark and posted to his space. It seemed natural just to link to them I guess.

We'll still use that style of gallery for larger collections of photos.

Thanks for the feedback!

Very nice car and very impressive job on the final product.

Still, I much prefer the hardtop model for many, many reasons.

Well, now that MINI is done with the Cabrio project I think is time to get busy with a MINI stationwagon…that's the one I WANT!.

Latest I've heard on that front is a extended wheel base MINI with rear hinged “suicide” style doors and a bigger boot. Don't look for anything before 2008-2009 at the earliest.
