MotoringFile Hyper Blue Gallery

In the past couple of weeks we've seen a lot of people asking about the new 2005 colors and what they actually look like in person. The most talked about color seems to be Hyper Blue. Well we just happened to obtain a number of photos featuring a 2005 Hyper Blue MCS that we thought we'd share in effort to help the great color debate. The photos do a better job than the few we had before in giving you a idea how the color actually looks in different light. Just click on the image above to view the gallery.

    Gabe, as always top work.

Gabe, do you have any connections for rentals of the MINI in Holland or France?…R

Great Pics!!! Just wondering how will the color contrast will look like with the black leather interior.

I like that color a lot, with one caveat: the body-color interior does NOT look good in hyper blue. Yuck.

    R – I don't. That may be worth a post to MINI2

Interestingly, all those photos are in the shade. Looks better than the last set, but still a little iffy.

Nice array Gabe – it is a nice color. Now get similar array of BEP and you'll be my hero… :)

I love it! still not convinced about the new Xenon's though….

It's a nice color but I'm very happy I have my Indi Blue…..

I took a tour of the Oxford plant yesterday, and got an in depth look at the new options as well as all the new colors.

The most popular new color appear to be the Hyperblue. There was more Hyperblue cars on the line than any other single color. After seeing the color in person, I can totally see why the pictures are no good. The paint shifts color in light and angle of light. The color is more a steel blue grey, but shifts light to a lighter blue or a darker blue. The color is extremely intriguing. The chrome package looks really, really good. And the red stitching on the leather really adds a lot to the color. None of the pictures, including Gabe's sight does the color justice. The interior really looks sharp with this color, unlike the aweful pictures we have seen.

As far as the Black Eye Purple, the color is no so different than the Indie Blue. Under closer examination or seeing the cars side by side you can tell, but glances at the car make it hard to tell if it is an Indie Blue or the new color.

Uuuuhhhh. I've ordered Hyperblue and my new MSC will be build in August as far as the dealer can tell. As I live in Germany the car should arrive late August 7 early September. Yeah!!

dgszweda1 – thanks for sharing your impression. I'm very excited and curious to see the color live myself. You're also talking about “red stitching on the leather”. What are you referring to?? Have I missed anything?

Man….where were those pics taken? I want to drive down that raod with the rock walls on both sides?!?! It is a right hand drive car, with European plates??

    Any thoughts?

    Philip,

There were a bunch of Mini convertibles with black seats, that appeared to be leather. They had a red stithching around them, that replaced the normal stitching normally found on the seats. It was a really nice contrast. I am not sure if there are any pictures out there of this, and I haven't seen it mentioned. It may have only been an option for the convertible. I sat in it. There are really a lot of small improvements made to the car. The car had a whole different feel (interior feel since it was standing still), than my 2003.

On a side note a team of 1-series engineers from Germany were on the tour. They had a one series there, that they let me sit in and try out. I have some pics but they are still in my camera. I can kind of understand why they didn't introduce it in the US yet. Even though the car is targeting different markets than the Mini, there is not much real difference between the cars, except for styling. They have about the same interior space, the same interior feel, same power, both hatchbacks. The power is the really about the same as the MCS, except for the 120d, which is a 160hp diesel with gobs of torque. This should make for a very fast car. There are still a few differences between what will be in showrooms and some of the pictures on this site. I would say the quality of the interior is a little lower than the 3-series. Comparing the 1-series to the 3-series is pretty similiar to the difference between the X-5 and the X-3. Not much difference, but you can tell their is just a slightly lower grade of materials. Also, it will contain the i-Drive system.

nice work, the pics look great. i can't help but feel like the Hyper Blue is just a slightly darker Electric Blue. i like it, but MINI already has a light blue paint. of course i was also against the discontinuation of Indi Blue, so maybe thats it.

Great work on getting these pictures! After seeing these pictures I'm totally convinced that I made the right choice in getting the hyperblue interior/exterior – now if I could see some pictures of hyperblue with black roof and caps I'd be totally happy! I'm in the first batch of 05's my dealer has ordered – Tate in Annapolis – I'm also springing for JCW this time too!
