While the convertible hasn't been released yet there are a handful on US roads as we speak. Here's an email from a reader who encountered one:
Heads' Up on the new new Mini Cabrio!!! I live in Schaumburg and was driving home from work on Roselle Rd yesterday. I saw a new BRG Mini Cabrio w/the roof down and Cordoba Beige interior!!! I didn't think these were going to get to the dealer until later in the summer.
We were driving in opposite directions (in traffic of course) so I didn't get a close-up of it. However I did honk and got an
acknowledging “wave” from the driver. It was definitely a dealer
demo car (had the dealer plates on it and the driver looked like a car salesman i.e. – decked out in white shirt and tie)Happy Motoring…..
Chris
I believe I know who that was actually as there's a BMW Corporate facility in Schaumburg. In fact that will probably be the car that will be making the rounds making the rounds at the local Chicago dealers later this month and in July.

They have been on SoCal roads all summer. Gabe posted by review of the one I tracked down in Malibu. The Articles on my website.

My parents also saw one recently in Quebec. Verdict: wonderful.

Here in MINI Land (Miami) I have yet to see a new MINI Cabrio. Hmmmmmmmm….

That's probably the Cabrio that was at MINIs on Top. The wife saw it… looks like a second and third job is in my future.

If it's the one I've heard is over there actualy I believe it's a different Cooper.

According to Giselle (MINIUsa), the car at MOT was one of about 5 in the USA. She was really cool to talk to – I think the one at MOT was one of the BRG's that was outside at the NY auto Show. There was another BRG inside at the NY auto show.

My mother saw one in central Oklahoma… she didn't know they were yet to be released and didn't think about calling me… just mentioned it in passing. Liquid yellow with black top… It was in the parking lot of a local hang out (bar).

Well, if they have only 5 there is one here in Miami since early June with New Jersey plates. I see it everyday. Metallic Orange with black top, looks very cool, also saw the new interior. I am tempted to get one!!

JAG – that's probably the one from the NY Auto Show.

I think most of them will have NJ plates since BMW/MINI US Headquarters is in NJ.

Here's Giselle and Friend in the BRG Cabrio on the Kancamagus drive during MINIs on Top last Saturday.

Hey JAG, I'll take that back. My wife told me yesterday evening that when she was driving home from work she spotted a '05 Cooper Cabrio (Hot orange metallic) driving on the lane next to hers (She has a '02 Cooper) along US1 in Miami. She really liked the car and it had New Jersey plates and 2 very young dudes in the interior. Looked like they were heading towards the Coconut Grove section of town.

Very cool!

Frank, I guess its the same one. I have seen it at the parking of The Streets of Mayfair in Coconut Grove. I can't wait for a red one!!! Hope I win the Lotto soon.

Saw one this weekend, Orange with black stripes at Zion National Park. No time to get my camera out, had to set up my tent. And I stank too much from hiking so I didn't say hi!
