Police departments should be using S's as a pursuit vehicle! It performs as well as the odd Camaro and Mustang used by some departments. Who cares if there's no room in the back for prisoners. There's no room in the pony cars, either! And an S has to out-perform a Crown Vic!

actually, my city of alhambra has a MINI patrol car also... they painted it with blue flames that goes across the bonnet and the sides of the doors. it looked really good. next time i see them, i'll try to snap a pic.

http://www.midtownalliance.org/safe+clean/midtown_blue.htm

In Atlanta, there is a crime task force called Midtown Blue with off-duty police officers who patrol 24-7 in the Midtown area. I'm nearly 100% positive their Indy Blue MINI is a 2002, but it may be a 2003. All I know is, they've been using the MINI since early 2003. They only drive it at night since their officers are on bikes during the day.

Midtown Blue is a law enforcement patrol, so therefore their MINI came first.

I'm just sayin! ;)

The first MINI Cooper used as a Police car in USA? There was a similar car in San Francisco last year, but perhaps on used by passive staff. The Mini Fan Club site on MSN Groups has a page on Minis used by Police.
