Hyper Blue MCS Cabrio Photos

mini

These pics come from a very gratified owner of one of the first MCS Convertibles delivered:

Here are some pics in high resolution. MotoringFile was very helpful for me e.g. finding the right color during the last months and hyper blue is definitely the right one :)

Very jealous. Very NICE. I ordered my MCS NON-Cabrio 4+ weeks ago and finally got word today that I have a chassis and VIN and it should be built towards the end of next week, so still on track with a mid August delivery. So I will have waited 8 to 10 weeks. Cannot even imagine how many weeks you waited for your Cabrio, but I am positive it is worth the wait. Yet, I still amd going crazy waiting for mine. Congrats. She's gorgeous and I am sure will give you plenty of head turns. :o)

  • DiamondRG

Hyper Blue is beautiful! I am on a waiting list to order a convertible, probably around November. Please clear up something for me, I have heard that Hyper Blue is for the S only, but somewhere I read that after January it would be available on the non-S convertible. Is this correct or is it only for the S?

Pretty – but I prefer my white bonnet stripes to that white bonnet cover ;)

  • Eric R

Hmmm, HB is looking far closer to IB than the initial photos. Is that my imagination, or just this particular photo rendering???

  • olindude

Was this a European delivery? I didn't think any of the 05's had made it across the pond yet.

  • Luke

The first bunch of US 05's should leave port tomorrow. I can't wait as mine will with with them. :)

  • http://www.michiganmini.com Ryan

Check out that antenna. I thought the shark fin was discontinued?? I guess not. Looks much nicer than that big RC antenna hanging out in front.

I also compared the new HB to my IB photos and they look nearly identical. Maybe it was the lighting that day.

  • http://www.motoringfile.com/ Gabe

I'm pretty sure that's the new version and the antenna is just not screwed in.

  • Sean

Wow! HB looks great! It has to be one of the best colors offered for MY 2005.

  • HyperBlue

Hi, I took the photos on a cloudy day here in Germany at my dealer's parking place. The antenna is just not yet screwed in, so it's no shark version. The color is really a bit darker than on all the photos I've seen before (but still a bit lighter than indi blue) and the photos come very close to what it really looks like. I will get the car on July 15th (tomorrow, without the white bonnet cover ;) and will then be able to take some more photos on a sunny day :) :)

  • Andrew

    DiamondRG,

HB is available for ALL models in the U.S.; however, across the pond, HB is only available to the MCS. Electric Blue and Dark Silver are still the MCS-exclusive colors in the U.S. Across the pond, Electric Blue is now available for all models beginning this year.

  • http://www.hubertus.net Philip

Wow! Those are by far the best pictures I've seen of the color hyperblue. I'd be glad to get some more pictures. Pls feel free to send some to my e-mail! I've ordered an 05 MSC in hyperblue and awaiting delivery at the end of August (Germany). Can't wait.

  • Peter

What happened to the CHROME gas cap? Is that now part of an optional package?

  • http://www.motoringfile.com/ Gabe

Due to the top mechanism there is no room for the chrome gas cap on the convertible.

  • Peter

Really? Wow, if the top mechanism takes up so much room so as to displace something as small as the chrome gas cap, then they must have reworked the fuel plumbing fit behind that fender? (Any close-up pictures of what's behind that cover?)

  • http://www.motoringfile.com/ Gabe

No but I've inspected it first hand. It's subtly different inside – nothing drastic.

  • Peter

Just subtly different?… I'm sure someone will then figure a way to fit or make a chrome gas cap retrofit. Why couldn't MINI just do it from the start!

  • David

I asked my Motoring Advisor at MINI Peabody in Massachusetts USA if Hyper Blue was available for my MINI I just ordered. He told me not until February… bummer.

I like the blue (I like my dark silver better though!)

Actually, from the pix it kind of looks like the Subaru WRX blue–not a bad thing IMO.

  • Jon

I agree with an earlier post by “Eric R” in that this color looks alot like IB. I recently ordered and MCS 05 in HB and the picture that I have of the color matches the Hyper Blue posted earlier by Gabe on this site in Feb. There is quite a difference in the colors. I am not sure which I like better.

  • Robert

“”Due to the top mechanism there is no room for the chrome gas cap on the convertible.”"

Where did you get this info from, This doesn't sound right on the face of it.

  • http://www.motoringfile.com/ Gabe

I saw it. I poked around enough on a convertible recently to see that the gas cap area is not as deep as the hardtop version. If you look down there the top goes into the car you'll see why – there's just slightly less room there.

There's just not a lot of room between the rear seats and the side of the car. In fact the rear seats have also lost their armrests due to these same reasons.

  • MinnieDriver

Our order will be allocated end of this month (hooray!) but we're still trying to finalize the color. We had originally picked Indi Blue…so Hyper Blue and Purple Haze (Black Eye Purple) are considerations.

I'm glad HB is possibly closer to IB than many gallery pics indicate.

Can anyone direct me to more photos of either color? Thanks!

  • MinnieDriver

Here's what I've found so far for Purple Haze…

    http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=60002&page=9&pp=15

They're phone pics posted on a MINI2 forum. I've heard that PH looks more purple in strong light, more blue in shadow.

This is suppossedly the color most similar to Indi Blue, but I'm not sure…I think the above Hyper Blue cabrio pics look closer to Indi Blue.

  • MinnieDriver

BTW, I've found a lot of Hyper Blue pics, so I'm much more keen to get info on Puple Haze.

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Cheers, MinnieDriver

  • ilovemini

That doesn't look like “hyper blue”…it looks like it would be “cool blue”, which is a color that is only exclusive to the convertible along with that orange one.

  • http://www.motoringfile.com/ Gabe

    That is indeed Hyper Blue.

  • ilovemini

    http://www.motoringfile.com/2004/06/10/motoringfilehyperblue_gallery

What about this link? The two blues look different, and they're both supposed to be Hyper Blue.
