As predicted yesterday MINIUSA has updated it's website with the 2005 colors and general information. Also as mentioned previously on MotoringFile MINIUSA has delayed the launch of the 2005 configurator – officially now set for 9/01.
It's worth noting that the colors MINIUSA has on it's site for the 2005 model year aren't quite representative of the those colors in real life.

the spec lists the MCS output to be 168hp, not 170. did this change recently?

I have looked at the site. A couple of comments that I have noted:

-The site sometimes hangs.
-Looking at Interior Features and Specs, it shows a two spoke steering wheel although the rollover item says three spoke.
-Exterior Features and Specs, shows brakes as being Alphabet brakes? Interesting.
-Acceleration from 0-60 has been lowered from 6.9 to 6.8
seconds.
-The hp is up 5hp, which is what we knew, and torque is 162 ft. lbs.
-The interior shot of the photo gallery shows a radio with what appears to be a Mini Disc player. Is that avaialable?

It would be neat to have a contest to find unique or wrong items on the site. We are such fanatics!

dark silver is not available with black roof.. must be a site error

Continue on what dgszweda1 found …

In the 360 interior …
– no new 'mini' sun visor on the driver side celling.
– no 'grap handle' on the passenger side celling.

Just tried again with the 360 interior, I now think it is a 04 interior. :)

No dark silver with black roof? That's terrible! I was planning to order one in that colour scheme… now what do I do. Hrmph.

Interior shots show the rear fog light switch…

Yeah, interior and exterior 360's are '04 models.

Plus…check out the wicked colors on the Copper Conv. (non-S) interior, second from the right. Front seat black, back seat red? I want that one! ;)

dgszweda1…I know its been awhile, but I think that mini disky thingie you saw is properly called a neo-70's audio casstette player…if I'm not mistaken. As a 'retro' accessory, I heard it might even increase the resale value! he.he. Just kidding!

This is fun, it's like “Where's Waldo” for Mini obsessive adults.

I ordered a DS/B two months ago… it is “en route”… we will see

Dark Silver/Black is available. The site seems to have a few inconstancies still.

DS/B is an option on the Canadian Configurator… I think MINI USA just needs to get there act together. We can't be having these kinds of situations first thing in the morning.

“We can't be having these kinds of situations first thing in the morning.
”
Indeed!!
LOL

any pics of wood trim interior? I can find it on the Brit site, but not here. Ditto, does this show all the leather colors? Curious is all.

Did they take the buggy '05 configurator offline? I only see 2004 listed under Build Your Own this morning.

as mentioned above the configurator won't be out until Sept. 1.

Doh! Of course…

I'm curious if anyone that has/had an '04 or earlier MCS that has just taken delivery of an '05 can report as to the increase in HP (and subsequently, the increase in acceleration, etc.) on the '05 MCS's? I know it isn't a huge jump, but with BMW engineering, 7 HP can do an awful lot. Probably not the most accurate thread to send this inquiry to, but it's the best matching of the recent threads. :o) Thanks!

You may want to pose this question to the latest Spotlight participant.

The miniusa site currently does NOT show either Electric Blue or Hyper Blue as available for the Mini Cooper, just the S. However, I just called 866.Ask.Mini, and was told that Hyper Blue WILL be available for the Mini Cooper, but Electric Blue will NOT. This is so confusing.

Electric Blue has been mentioned for the 2005 Cooper many times. Here's an example: https://www.motoringfile.com/2004/04/23/officialnewsonthe2005minirefresh

“Electric Blue will be extended as a colour option on all models with the exception of the MINI Convertible range. This means that there is a choice of 10 exterior colours for every MINI in the range.”

Of course this is referring to the rest of world and not specifically to the US but I can't imagine that MINIUSA would specifically nix Electric Blue for the Cooper in the US. It's not like they aren't charging you $400 for the metallic paint :)

Thanks Gabe. Not enough coffee this morning yet for my own brain to realize that was the more appropriate thread. :o)

Thanks!

G.

I'm looking at MINIUSA and I don't see a change in specs on either the Cooper or Cooper S. HP and Torque numbers look the same.

If you download the PDF of the full specs., it lists the 3-spoke multifunction wheel in two places with two different prices. Once under “interior seating and trim” for $250 and once under “comfort and convenience (cruise control)” for $350.

I just pulled up the '05 Mini Cooper S models to look at the colors – and (gasp!) when I pull up the Electric Blue color, it doesn't allow the white roof!!??!! Please, please, PLEASE someone tell me that this is a site error!

Julie, look about 5 comments above yours.

Matt, my issue is that fact that the MINIUSA site is disallowing white roof/mirrors when combined with the Electric Blue color on the Mini Cooper “S” models – an option that has always been there in the past. The Whole MC vs. MCS is of no concern to me.

Oops. Sorry about that. I got two different comment threads mixed up in my head. I'm sure that Electric Blue/White will be available. Someone mentioned earlier on this page that it appears that Dark Silver/Black will not be available, which I think is very unlikely.

did someone mention “wood -trim”? I myself have never been able to find it on the bloody miniusa? is it available? and if so, does it look cheesie?

It is available in the US. While I can't say it looks cheesy it does look very plasticy. Basically I can't see you fooling anyone with it.

Okay, I'm a geek, but I did a quick Google Image search and found a Mini site out of Japan that had a small picture of a right hand drive MINI with wood dash. If you go to: http://www.nicole.co.jp/mini/parts/interior/wood_trim/images/photo.jpg

You will get a look see.

Enjoy. :o)

G.

Actually if you do a search on MotoringFile you'll find this: https://www.motoringfile.com/2003/01/22/TheMINICooperWoodenDash
:)

I tried searching for the wood dash on Motoringfile Gabe, but couldn't find it when I did a search. Of course, you are the keeper of all things Motoringfile. :o)

FYI – here's the search I used: https://www.motoringfile.com/search.php?search=wood+dash

Let me know if you have any issues with the search. Always interested in making sure it's working properly.

;-)

About the Electric and Hyper Blue colors–Hyper Blue (HB) will be available for ALL models in the U.S. Not so across the pond. In other countries, HB is an MCS-exclusive color. Also across the pond, Electric Blue has now become available for ALL models. Have I confused anyone yet? I got this information straight from the horse's mouth.

In the U.S., EB and Dark Silver remain the MCS-exclusive colors.

Across the pond, HB and Dark Silver are the MCS-exclusive colors.

In answer to Julie's question, I ordered a 2005 Elec Blue MCS with white roof and mirrors. The Miniusa Owner's Lounge says she's now awaiting transport. Woo-hoo!

Andrew:

That would make sense… in a way…

Here's my theory. MINIUSA realized that without Hyperblue the Cooper would have no “medium blue” available. Knowing that BMW/MINI believe the US to be very color conservative (see what BMW colors don't get brought to the US for example) it would seem they made a switch to correct this issue and cover their bases. Is it a good thing? Probably but Hyperblue MCS owners probably don't think so.

Having taken delivery of my HB/B MCS on Monday (being an MA has SOME perks!), I can unequivocally say that 2005 is a great improvement over the 2004 cars. Hyper blue isn't as light as I wished it had been, but is still a beautiful color, and I like it quite a bit better than Indi Blue.

thanks chris and matt.

i was really doubting that miniusa would withdraw the mcs electric blue/white combo, as it's so popular. but as i've been waiting many months (nay, years!) to order mine (i'll be ordering late sept.) the very thought of them not having the combo thrw me into a panic. i'm sure they're just having the normal site bugs and/or info probs.

thanks again!

your links to the wood bits worked like wee charms, thank you 🙂 and while can not say that it's the cheesiest-macaroni-est thing that I've ever seen, it's not something that I'll opt for. thanks again!!!

I called 866ASKMINI today about the Dark Silver / Black combo. After much searching, they basically came up with “shrug” and said they don't see any reason that that combo isn't available, and there are no notes about it in their ordering guides. So, heres to hoping…

I don't know if this is the correct thread or not, but my MA told me that an MC w/ CVT won't be available until Oct. Has anyone else heard this, or is he misinformed?

Thanks

Gabe–

No, I don't think it's a good idea for anyone who wants to order Hyper Blue in the U.S. to do so. I myself have ordered HB/W on an MCS and I wanted my MCS to be just a little rarer.

foolsdragon–

How do you like HB/B? I could never really tell how HB/B would be because every configurator/color display I've used has such dark backgrounds. Hey, can you post a pix?

I believe that is correct Robyn. Actually I should really post something about that – totally forgot about it!
