sure great for crusing the big wide open interstaes over there in the states, but not for the smaller winding roads over here where the mini was born.

Same transmission as the VW New Beetle? Too bad it's not the same as the diesel version, which has a DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox) auto option. I suppose it needs more low-end torque, though.

And to further agree with Jay, you could get a classic Mini with auto transmission!

I agree with Jay, all you girly-men stop belly aching. If you really want an exclusive car buy a McLaren F1. Besides, paddle shifting still requires a learning curve and its cool.

Wa Wa Wa.

I am getting tired of the same old argument about the MCS auto. Mini is all about choices and this is just another choice. If you want an exclusive car, well, STILL buy a mini. You can customize your driving experience any way you want.

I have one kneecap that is 1.5 inches out of place, and another that is 1.0 inches out of place. According to the above theories, I can't belong to the exclusive club that MCS owners belong to because a manual makes my knee ache. I know, becuase I have been driving one for the last 10 years.

No, I don't like going to an auto, but I am finally breaking down and realizing that it is necessary.

Times change folks. The original mini probably didn't have LSD or DSC either (or air conditioning either, I would wager). But not many folks are complaining about THOSE additions.

I for one, am just glad that they have an auto with a few cool touches like the steptronic and the paddle shifters.

We've all heard the arguments against the auto in an MCS. Let it rest.

Exactly. It's not as though sales have hit a peak and dropped off. Is there really a need to broaden appeal when it's been widely reported that the UK plant is already operating at capacity?

I think this sort of takes away from the exclusivity of the MCS. Now every teenage and over 50 girl will want an MCS because they dont have to deal with a manual trans.

Wow, the knob looks pretty sexy....

Now all they need to do is put the SMG in there...(HIGHLY unlikely) =P
