Don’t get me wrong, I like the posibility of customizin a Mini to my own taste. That is one of the most atracting things of the Mini. But there is a limit to that. This limit is FUNCTIONALITY. If Mini knows (and as we have seen)that many owners have their bumpers scratched to the point were they ofer this “solution”, then this is a functionality thing (not to be confused with the personality thing)and as a functionality thing this should be made standard equipment.

Thanks for the better pic sean. I am somewhat interested–I’ve had a few scratches there despite trying my best not to. The black matches my car (otherwise it would be a no-no…good chance for aftermarket company to come out with matching mini colors?) but I still want to see and feel it in person. I’ll ask next time I’m at my dealer.

This should be standard Mini equipment as in any car with a rear gate. Why BMW makes you pay $40.00 for this decal? It is ripping off their customers with this personality thing.

I think it is a great idea. The top of our bumper is scrached up.

To bad it dosen't come in diamond plate. :)

It’s actually a brilliant idea for those of us with dogs. The bumper protector on my Forester has taken quite a bit of abuse over the past two years. I’d highly recommend this for dog owners looking to motor around with the “kids”!

When I had a ‘clear bra’ installed on our EB MCS I had the guy install a custom cut strip on the rear bumper shelf using the same 3M material. It serves the same function as this new black MINI piece, but is invisible, removable, and only cost a few bucks to have proffessionally installed.

I think I am going to have the dealer add this piece when my new '05 MCS arrives in 3 weeks. I fortunately haven't had any scratches in this area in prior MINIs, but the main reason I am interested in it, is that the back of these cars gets unbelievable dirty and this "decal" can help protect the upper region of the bumper from embedded dirt and contaminants.

This decal should make cleaning the bumper much easier. Think of it as a "black bra" for your bumper.

One month with the mini and mine also has a scratch there. I think its a bit complicated removing very heavy stuff from the low trunk space and sometimes you tend to drop it a bit prematurely.

Not the most aesthetically pleasing piece, but I have a bunch of scratches in that area from how dirty the back of the MINI gets, this will at least protect it…

Well this is a buy I am planning on now… I already have a scratch there from a Rouge Lazy-boy recliner leg… I am glad that MINI is putting their own spin on the aftermarket parts like this =-D

I like it. Plus I already have a scratch on that portion of the bumper (and no, I don’t know where it came from). This would hide that nicely and protect against future indiscretions.

a cheaper alternative to the aluminum ones sold…but the aluminum ones will look better with the chrome package than this will…
