MINIUSA Releases JCW Challenge Decals

MINIUSA has just announced that they will be offering the official John Cooper Works Challenge Decals as dealer accessories. The decals are featured in the JCW Challenge racing series as seen in the above pic (the checkered stripe at the bottom of the car) and in this photo from the recent Let’s MINI event in Germany. Here’s the part number and retail pricing info:

51 14 0 393 101 / MSRP $81.25

The decals should be available at US MINI dealers as of this week. (They’ve been out for a while now in the UK and Europe)

You can download the official PDF release here.

    Ehh, doesn’t look too good..

I would like that number decal though.

  • http://motoringfile.com Gabe

And btw that is Corinna Schumacher driving the car in the photo (wife of Ralph Schumacher).

  • 05DSMCS

    I agree, don’t like it

  • Ellis

Does the driver have any relation with Michael Schumacher? Is it his wife, possibly?

  • http://www.minisofmiami.com Frank

    Yes, that is Schumacher’s wife.

  • http://www.michiganmini.com Ryan

Where do these people get their pricing guidelines from? It’s a good thing that BMW/Mini isn’t in the coffee business, I don’t think I’m quite ready for a $15.82 cup of joe.

  • dave

if your racing on a track decals are fine but driving on the road, come on now, you don’t need freakin decals. Especially on honda civics, a VTEC engine ain’t nothing special.

  • Siddhartha

    snicker

  • http://www.teammightyminiz.com doug

Seems like a reach to me. But whatever

  • mataku

I actually like the checkers. not 81.00 like, but I still like them.

I don’t see what’s the big deal though about it being used on the road. Seems to me like it’s just the checker design, not all the stuff at the bottom of the checkers, right? if this is the case, seems like every other design out there.

  • Greg W

Maybe MINI USA are holding back a lot of stuff available outside USA because the checker sticker has been on the BMW MINI EPC (Electronic Parts Catalogue) for some time now. It may be worth a trip to your local dealer and ask if you can browse the EPC for other bits and bobs… The Cara Schumacher car was introduced by MINI Press at the start of their MINI Challenge season. Gabe, any word on who the USA drivers are for the MINI United race?

  • Greg W

Ooops…sorry guys, its not Carra, I am getting mixed up with your NHRA dragster driver…but it is CORA as per the below press story; Here is a rough translation of some of the accompanying text that came with that photo: Cora Schumacher, wife of Formula-1-driver Ralf Schumacher (BMW WilliamsF1 team), starts a career as a racer. The 27 years old wants to complete the entire season of the MINI Challenge 2004 altogether on seven running weekends around valuable points. “now I know, why Ralf sits so gladly in the car and running. my first test drive already went well,” Cora Schumacher said of her first experiences with the new car. Their running vehicle is 200 HP and 226 km/h fast MINI Cooper S with John Cooper Works Tuning kit. Cora Schumacher drives the vehicle of Veltins and becomes f? the team Premium Cars to the start go. Ralf Schumacher says of the running ambitions of his wife: “I am pleased that Cora is driving with the MINI Challenge 2004. Thus she gets a still better view of my work. Perhaps it can do me or others also taps gives “, stated the formula -1-Pilot with a smile.

I would rather they offer this kit: http://www.wessexnetworks.com/jccgallery/photos/2004/90/dsc90211704.jpg

    Or this one: http://www.wessexnetworks.com/jccgallery/photos/2005/60%20-%20Croft%20Round%202/SW2662005_132.JPG

If you want to make the car look like a Cooper Challenge car then why not have what the teams are using.

    Cheers

    Jack

The driver in the photo is Cora Schumacher – Ralf Schumacher’s wife. Ralf is the younger brother of Michael Shumacher.

  • TBH

OMG… With so many voicing how they don’t like the look or price of nearly every option that comes along it is a wonder that BMW is willing to bring any option stateside. Had this option been offered in Europe only I think the opinions would have been alot different. The JCW is to expensive, the new rear wing is hideous, the new colors are to drab.. Lets remember these are all options.

  • http://motoringfile.com Gabe

    Heh… well said.

  • Aaron

Also, Ralf drives for Panasonic Toyota this year, not BMW Williams. His teammate is trouncing him this year.

    Aaron

  • Frank

Actually, I like that checker style, and have asked the two major mini decal company how much they for them to make it. One quoted for close to $100 and the other one more than $200. So, $80 is not that bad. Just my opinion.

  • Adam

Seems somewhat on par with Might Stripes – $75.

    http://www.mightystripes.com/Sides.htm

  • http://motoringfile.com Gabe

Yeah I would say the price is very fair comparatively. For some reason people seem to love to attack JCW/MINI on pricing of every product it comes out with.

  • http://www.nemini.org GMINI

The Lets MINI photo is swapping around. :( I want to see it again. withought all the tracktime habadashery.

  • Ian

“With so many voicing how they don’t like the look or price of nearly every option that comes along it is a wonder that BMW is willing to bring any option stateside.”

    Maybe those voices are right?

  • http://motoringfile.com Gabe

If that were the case MINIUSA would offer two base cars in three different colors with the single accessory being the glovebox organizer.

  • petsounds

I am often pretty vocal here when i don’t like something, but I also speak up when MINI does something right. I like these decals. Overpriced perhaps, but I think they look good. They don’t scream out “Type R”, they just say “no nonsense sport.” Though I think they won’t match up well with every color option.

  • Pete

I wish Mini actually had three different colors. Something other than “generic, blending-into-the-pavement shade of gray” and red. Maybe a light, metallic blue, or perhaps a cheerful yellow?

  • Derek

    Ditto on the number decal/sticker….

  • mataku

yes.. but do they retain the factory warranty like the JCW version does? =)

  • http://nemini.org GMINI

they will look da bomb on my MC40.

  • http://nemini.org GMINI

    maybe not.

  • Kaan

A little off-topic but does anybody know if Mini will release other racking equipment (e.g. a ski rack) that works with the Sport Link? I have to get a rack fitted to my MCS that arives in October as i go biking and sking quite often. Even though i cant justify the price tag on the Sport Link, getting the roof drilled for the standard racking system sounds cruel to me for a new car. What do you guys think and suggest?

    Thanks, Kaan

  • Kaan

    How about this?

    http://outmotoring.com/mini_fini_sport_link_bike_rack.html

they mention (actually sell) a ski rack attachment for the sport link. but i’ve never heard or read about such a thing elsewhere..

  • RB

I think Ralf could use some lessons from his wife.

    Gabe & TBH……………………………………….

    It’s still a “COMMENT SECTION” isn’t it?????????

Back from Europe & glad to be back in the USA.

  • josh

i like it more than the last ones

Have you ever considered adding more videos to your blog posts to keep the readers more entertained? I mean I just read through the entire article of yours and it was quite good but since I’m more of a visual learner
