I have the Dension ICE-Link Plus for my iPod Mini. I spent a fair amount of money on both. Apple brings out the NANO and no longer makes the Mini. When my Mini dies where does that leave me? Will the NANO fit into my Mini cradle or am I just screwed?

blalor Sep 19th, 2005 Link

It’s looking like the Nano is compatible with a large number of existing accessories. The dock connector is the same. Hopefully it will continue to work with the ice>Link, but I’d check with Dension to be sure. Presumably they’ll support it officially at some point, including with an additional cradle, but you can probably get by with some foam for now. :-)

If I run into anyone with a Nano (not likely…) I’ll give it a try. I encourage others to do the same…

Gabe Sep 19th, 2005 Link

I can verify Nano Ice-Link compatibility in about a week ;-)

Actually there’s no way Nano wouldn’t be compatible since it’s got the same dock connector and essentially the same internal software. The Ice Link is compatible with all iPods with the dock connector.

Bob Sep 19th, 2005 Link

It’s probably compatible, but the nano might not fit into the cradle properly.

RB Sep 19th, 2005 Link

Hadn’t even thought of the compatibility issues. I was more concerned with the cradle but then I like eggs.

I see the mini iPod lasting a long time as it seems to be fine. I haven’t put it in the desk top charger since I last changed my playlists about 3 weeks ago and see no battery issues with just using the car charging system as I had read there might be, I think, here.

DAMN YOU H/K HATERS!!! :)

I agree with some of the comments about the bass-iness of the HK. The one we listened to at the dealer did not sound this way, i need to figure out how to tune it right. For us, it was worth paying $500 for a integrated solution, even though i know you can get more in the aftermarket. Didn’t feel like tearing it apart.

No Nano here, but our Ice Link Plus works great, shows ID3s on our HK Headunit.

good cast…enjoyed the design talk (and the apple talk for that matter!) Good idea about showing clients work in B/W….

thanks again!

Jac – what firmware do you have on your Ice-Link?

Glad you liked it!

I have the HK in but I see no displays on the head unit. The last time I went to Densions site I couldn’t find anything I needed.

Man! You guys hate the H/K system almost as much as I hate Macs and iPods.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. :-)

Not being a Mac/iPod guy myself, imagine me having to sit there while they blathered on about Macs ;)

I am outnumbered, but will see what I can do in the future to help prevent such outburst! LOL

ReplyReply
Todd Sep 19th, 2005 Link

Blathered? I think the Mac talk lasted about 30 seconds not including the nano/iPod talk which is cross platform BTW. : )

I think after our discussion that the Ice-Link will be the first item on my Christmas list. It’ll be first because, like Gabe, I won’t be able to hold out ’til December for a nano.

ReplyReply
Mike (The Office Maven) Sep 19th, 2005 Link

Not me (as I don’t/won’t do iPods).

I really like the ID3 tag support for the iPods via the IceLink, but I’ll stick with my supper cool Sony Ericsson W800i “WALKMAN” phone instead.

The W800i is a GSM-based 2MP camera phone that has a Sony Walkman MP3 player built right into it. It supports upto 4 GB of music via a memory stick and it can use playlists as well.

It hooks right into the MINI via the $40 OEM AUX input cable and you can still have a sweet Bluetooth setup with it as well. :-)

Heh. Dension’s home page claims the Nano’s supported.

Hey RB,

If you don’t like it then just don’t read it. Pretty simple concept eh?

Life’s too short to get your panties in such a bunch over silly things.

Imagine how I felt! My yellow color choice was bashed! (just kidding, I just noticed no one had complained about that… I’m just here to help!)

Actually I have to agree with the first comments as to the Aux inport option as being a very serviceable option for all mp3 players. I use it with my iPod and the Belkin charging kit to keep it charged. It’s a quick install, and pretty cheap too. Like a few others I decided to install the Aux in my Euro Shelf which gives me access to my iPod, instead of it being in the glovebox.

Just a coincidence actually. The banners load at random out of a pool of 50. That said I don’t really hate the yellow :-)

Don’t be afraid! Stand up and shout it from the roof tops!

Just know we are coming for you! LOL!!!

OK,ok, I’m leaving you alone about this now. Did you guys get any real complaints about that though?

Actually, shockingly enough, we didn’t get any complaints about our yellow bashing this time or last.

That’s because the number of LY-lovers is so small, the chances of one of them listening to WRR approaches zero! ;-)
