Just wanted to say thanks for a great article! Spot on description of the track and corners. I just came back from my first trip to the Ring (in an MG TF) and I wanna go back!! I sadly only had time for one Touristenfahrten session and just managed to get in 2 laps before the track was closed due to a serious accident. But great addictive stuff!

I am in the US Air Force, stationed in Belgium for the last 2 3/4 years. I got my 06 MCS in Dec(05). I read this article and could not bereave I hadnÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t heard of this place before. I am very thankful I read it before I had to leave the area. I am 3 hrs away and have been there twice. The first time was opening weekend. It was fery busy and not even worth it. The second time was 11 Jun 06. There was a lot less cars there and I could realy enjoy the track and my MINI. See the pictures at http://www.flickr.com/photos/forbesfirehouse/ I plan to pay flickr soon so I can upload all my photos.

My MINI has been turned in for transportation to the USA in preperation for moving to my next base so no more ring trips for me.

Have now made it to the Nordschleife, all the way from Australia, driven 6 laps and loved every minute of it. Now, how do I get myself back there!

The dates are out for the 2006 GLP events, they are:

29.04.2006 10.06.2006 15.07.2006 05.08.2006 02.09.2006 07.10.2006 21.10.2006

These dates are all Saturdays. The events start very early in the mornings.

Liam, feel free to get in touch with me if you want to be there on either April 29th or May 10th. I might be able to get you a co-pilot seat if you're interested.

Hi Marco,

you may want to simply hire a car when you're over. Hertz and the German Rent-a-Car company Turtlerent are excluding their cars from being used on the Ring. If you're coming for the F1 race, the Ring might be closed. So check the opening hours before.

Hopefully i’ll be able to go there this summer and drive on it. Me and my friend bob are gonna be there for the World Cup this summer and we hop to get a couple of laps in. We have a major problem though, we dont have a car, lol. But we will go there either way, just to see it if nothing else. We looked at being taxied around it in the new M5, but thats expensive.

Can’t afford Germany just yet, guess I’ll have to stick to XBox’s PGR2 and Forza games to keep my interest in Nurburgring. OMG! I can’t believe I recognized every turn in the real photos and I’ve never been there.
