The 2006 tachometer housing now comes in anthracite
New for 2006, MINIs with anthracite trim now include an anthracite tachometer housing. The new anthracite tachometer is also included with the Piano Black interior.
Prior to this point, the anthracite interior surfaces came with the tachometer from the silver interior. While we don’t know the part number for the anthracite tachometer housing at this point, it is only a matter of time before someone retrofits it into an earlier build MINI.
Gabe, in the picture it looks like the back of the tach is in anthracite and the front is chrome. Do you know if the front part of the tach is anthracite too?
My MINI was just built last Friday and it has the anthracite interior. I found it odd that in the Factory Options section of the OL tracking system, it listed anthracite interior twice. I wonder if it because of the story above. I’ll have to find out in a few weeks!
I just picked up my 06 with the anthracite interior. I also have the nav, you still get the silver tach and speedo package, not antracite. to bad it kind of clashes with the anthracite dash.
Beautiful! I assume it will again be a part for the entire tach so expensive to retrofit.
The other question is, will the wiper/light stalks also be anthracite or will they remain unmatching silver?

Actually this isn’t my article so I’m sorta clueless on this one. Anyone have an answer?
I test drove a Cooper S at MINI of San Francsico a few weeks ago. It it had anthracite headliner and dash. All the items that normaly have the silver or chrome bits on the dash (tech., speedo, vents, etc.) all had anthracite rings. It was pretty slick! made everything come together.
I guess the only downside to this is that no one makes anthracite gauge holders(or at least I’ve never seen one). Whereas the Autometer silver ones matched the silver perfectly.

I have the same thing showing up on mine…glad I’m not the only one. I just thought it was their mistake, but I as long as I get anthracite as my interior they can put it in as many time as they want;)
Geno,
Does Mini of San Francisco sell their minis at retail or do they mark them up? I live in Monterey County, CA and I’m trying to find a dealer in CA who sells minis at retail. If I’m unsuccessful, I’ll probably end up flying to Portland, OR to buy the car and drive it home.
MINI of San Francisco probably has the highest markups in the SF Bay Area: $2500 S, $1500 Cooper. The only local dealer selling at MSRP is East Bay MINI in Pleasanton, but their waiting list is something like 9 months to place a custom order. However, you might check them to see what they have available to buy off the lot.
Another option for those in NorCal would be to purchase from South Bay MINI (Los Angeles) and make a weekend trip out of taking delivery of your new MINI. They sell at MSRP and have a shorter waiting list than it sounds like East Bay has.
Saw the anthracite tach ring in issue 22 of GoMini, on the Cooper modified by the Italian firm – they turned it into a lifestyle car with cut down doors, etc.
The anthracite tach ring is the only thing I liked about that car. It looks so good in that small picture I will have to try and track one down when they become available.
Well it’s about time!
Love the idea. Isn’t the picture of a chrome tach?
Nice! This finalizes my decision to not get interior chrome pack.
Now how about the turn signal / wiper stalks? =P

Will this also include the speedo on nav equipped cars?

The wiper stalks are still silver.

Is anything at all not anthracite?
Chrome line interior is still the only way to go!

Wow, that looks great. Wish they had done this on my anthracite ’04. I like the chrome/anthracite mix.

Yeah MINI SF does mark up. I paid $2500 over MSRP for my Cabrio.
But MINI SF is one of the few dealers that have stock sitting on the lot ready to buy.

Hmm I picked up my Mini 11/23 and it didn’t have Anthracite rings. 🙁 Could I go back to the dealer to get them changed?
Nevermind, it’s Anthracite. I just thought the whole thing was going to be Anthracite. Only the back half of the ring is.
Got my MSC06 12/2 with Anthracite int/posts. I didn’t get an Anthracite TAC gauge ether. What’s up with that?
