Put Your MINI Club on the Map

mini

We’re happy to announce the launch of the MotoringFile MINI Club Mappr.

When we looked at our previous MIN club links page we realized some improvements were needed. First off the page needed to be in the hands of someone other than me. Someone who will have a little time to devote to updating the list and keeping tabs on all the weekly maintenance. Secondly we really needed a better interface. Something that at once would show the club name and url but also the location.

So with that said I’d like to introduce The MINI Club Mappr page and the man behind it, Brian Lalor. The MINI Club Mappr uses the Google Map interface to both list and show each MINI club worldwide. Brian will be the man behind the curtains keeping the clubs current and adding new ones when needed. However to do this he’ll need your help. For one, if there is information currently on the page about a club that is incorrect, let him know. Secondly, if you’ve got a new MINI club and would like to share it with the world, let him know.

For all those that sent us club links over the past 3-4 months: Due to my recent hard drive failure (and loss of email) we do not have your changes or additions. Therefore you’ll need to send them again (this time to Brian), we’ll get them on the new site ASAP.

When you’re requesting an addition or update, please include your club’s name, URL, and a city that’s representative of the location you serve. That will help me get you in the right place!

Also, feel free to include a one to two sentence statement describing your club; something along the lines of the geographic boundaries served, as a point on a map doesn’t necessarily do justice for some of the clubs.

Is it just me? The map loads half off the page & I can’t get to the control panel. But the background loads just fine….

It looks like there’s some issues with Internet Exploder Explorer. I’ll take a look at these as soon as I can, but for now, please use FireFox. I’ll post an update once we get this resolved. I apologize to those of you forced to use IE, however. ;-)

Cool. Now I can go for a mini run with MINIpeople (Russian MINI Club). Not that I’ve ever been there but now if I do and happen to take Fiona with me I can crash a run.

It’s not just the ‘evil’ IE that has the error… Opera does the same thing…

The MINI Club Mappr is looking good in IE now. Great job Brian!!

Thanks, Steve. The folks over in the Google Maps API group were able to supply an answer within minutes of my query. The short answer is that IE is a piece of junk. :-P

Boy you’ve got that right. I feel bad for those who still have to use it.
