okay the lights in the door panels are already on the MINI and its not like they would replace the regular they would just add to the MINI brand. and i like it i think its pretty futuristic looking.

Well, there are some aspects that are kind of strange but I might grow to love (maybe)- all in all I just want them to produce a mini wagon so that I can fit my dogs & gear in it. I would buy it in a second!

This is the same exact thing as the 2 previously shown concept. What I find cool on this Detroit version is that digital center screen and maybe the 2 stripes in the center of the bonnet. That's it. The side door pannels lighting up is abit too much unless you can manually turn it on and off then it's ok. I hate the blue colors on this one. I do like the whole white color. The Tokyo version was weirder. Though I actually fancy the sidemirror caps on that version. I didn't mind the weird mucus green feel, just wish a different color like grey would be better. If they will make this in production at lease keep it the Frankfurt version instead, turbocharge and/or supercharge the engine too(though it seems like it already is with the scoop on the bonnet.) I don't hate the design though the head lamp seriously reminds me of the Austin cars a lot. It's too long for me. The body itself being long is quite alright since I'd like to get another not-too-big vehicle probably in the future.

hmmn. that video was pretty interesting. I kinda liked the rear blinkers up high like that, kinda reminds me of the Enterprise Nacelles, very '60's

I wonder what the specs are for it; couldn’t see them in the article but then I got bored after the first ten paragraphs of hyperbole.

That pretty much sums up what I meant by my previous post.

A further highlight of Mini Concept Detroit is the new Silver Metallic paintwork further enhanced by exquisite materials inside the car. And last but certainly not least, Mini Concept Detroit pays tribute to its forefather inter alia through its elegant station wagon design featuring a symmetrically split double door at the rear as well as split side windows for the passengers sitting in the second row.

What here is new that we didn't read already from the other two "concepts"

I do have to admit that I like it most so far from the three offered.

and yes I aggree with you Gabe that the other press releases were equaly long winded but again, I ask what here is new? Besides putting a different color lipstick on a pig, it is still the concepts Tokyo/Frankfurt dressed up for the american public.

Keep it up Gabe, the best site on the web bar none.

MINI, Keep it short, sweet and to the point. Write something meaningful not psycobabble.

Oh my, that's ugly.

Some interesting styling details; the grille is neat, and it's got a nice profile. The doors are clever, and I hope they make it onto the production model, but overall...not impressed. That 'Sports Utility Box' looks like something a child would use to carry their lunch!

The interior is too podlike and space-age for my liking, and all the extra gizmos must make it feel pretty lardy to drive, not to mention costing the owner a fortune if they ever go wrong.

I wonder what the specs are for it; couldn't see them in the article but then I got bored after the first ten paragraphs of hyperbole.

After having seen this "concept" in the metal yesterday at the NAIAS, I walked away thinking that in my opinion it is "butt ugly." It is just not for me, so MINI wants to sell one to me, they had best drastically change the "concept." Once again, just my opinion......

I think it's a truly marvelous concept. Is it exactly the same as our current and beloved MINI? No- and that's precisely the point.

While the natural reaction to change is one of dislike, change is inevitable and absolutely necessary. The automotive industry as a whole is changing (look at the numerous Big 3 automakers plant closings/layoffs. GM is closing their assembly plant here in Atlanta- something nobody saw coming). Automakers have to find new, unique ways to create cars that evolve with the people that are going to purchase them.

I say we give these vehicles a chance; it's hard to pass judgement until we've seen an actual production vehicle and driven the thing.

Thanks for the article Gabe.

The interior looks nice and the floating seat concept which will never make production, is cool.

The exterior is another matter. It appears that someone beat the previous "perfect" design with an ugly stick. I too, am embarassed for MINI.

If this is the direction for the company, then my interest in the company is over.

Oh well, my EB 2005 MCS is and will always be a classic.

Not to happy with the gauges. Glad they are round but the design of the information contained leaves me cold. The front might conform to the new pedestrian standards but it needs much work to make me happy.

Glad I got my 2006. I can wait until they correct their mistakes and return to a more classic design. Maybe they could entice the original new MINI design team back for another try.

Just to be clear... PR people likely put this together... not the marketing firm. And this is written in the same way that many detailed PR releases are written for MINI and BMW. Meaning that it started out life in German and then was translated.

So long story short... this is the same thing that has been released with every MINI concept so far.
