The MINI Dominates Winter

MINI.ca has a new and rather saucy feature to help expound on the MINI’s various winter related virtues. In fact one could even call it disciplined. Well worth a click if you… um, like that sort of thing. Just go to MINI.ca and click on the, well, you’ll see where to click.

Is this from the new ad agency? Or do they even handle Canada?

Derek Jan 18th, 2006 Link Reply to this comment

If this is part of the new ad campaign, MINI is gonna put thier sales in overdrive…

Gabe Jan 18th, 2006 Link Reply to this comment

MINI Canada’s advertising is handling by a completely different company.

Vanwall Jan 18th, 2006 Link Reply to this comment

Damn! Is that leather option only available in Canada? I’d buy that for a dollar!

I can’t see anything useful using Firefox… anyone else having problems? It’s just a black page with some links that bring up more black pages.

AKMINI Jan 18th, 2006 Link Reply to this comment

I have firefox and it works fine for me. It might be your connection speed. It took a few moments to load.

Check out the cool mini winter videos. Shows just how well the mini does in the snow. Anyone who has driven a mini in the snow knows it does great for a two wheel drive car. I drive mine all winter on Nokian Nordman studded snow tires.

Welcome to MotoringPhile

It’s pretty racy, that’s for sure. I laughed my head off when she started suggestively flicking the antenna. They did at least have the good sense not to have her demonstrating “the close-ratio 6-speed Getrag transmission with your choice of knob.” Great proof once more that the MINI brand doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s a very tongue-in-cheek “buy a MINI and a sexy lady in black leather will spank you like the naughty littler motorhead you are.” But best of all it actually does do a great job of showing off MINI’s winter worthiness. Contrast that with Jaguar’s recent “Gorgeous” ads and you can quickly appreciate how ingenious this is. It goes down the “sex sells” route laughing all the way yet still manages to be completely benefit-centric.

Gabe, do you know what agency MINI-Canada is using for this? It’s not the first fun webvertising thing to come from mini.ca.

You might try re-downloading and reinstalling the flash plugin.

Simply stated…sex sells! I want a Mini now more than ever if she is my salesperson.

If you let the first (front) view of the car sit long enough, one of her repeating animations shows her walk up to the camera and dangle a MINI keychain in front of you. I’ve never seen that keychain before – it looks like a short cloth or elastic hoop with the word MINI on it. I couldn’t find it anywhere for sale on any official mini site. Any ideas where I could get it? Me likey!

Mini.ca has a great history of pushing sex and the MINI. There was an ad they ran on Canadian television for the Mini (during the 1st model year). It showed an Electric Blue MINI parked in a lot all by itself. Its windows were all fogged up. Cut to the inside of the car and up hops a guy and a girl from reclined seats, both buttoning up their shirts. Girl says “Wow, there really is a lot of room in these things.” And then a 3rd girl pops up from the back seat looking as disheveled and says “Yeah.”

Great ad.

I’d let her near my pants, but not my car. Nobody abuses my MINI.

Gary Anderson Jan 18th, 2006 Link Reply to this comment

Of course, either the Canadians spell things differently, eh, or there’s a double entendre in there regarding the “Break Controls.”

Ian Jan 18th, 2006 Link Reply to this comment

The keychain she dangles is the one that many Canadian dealerships give you when you take delivery …

Chris LW Jan 18th, 2006 Link Reply to this comment

How’d she get in those pants? LOL

I wish we could get the heated windshield down here…what’s the electronic break d..?

James Jan 18th, 2006 Link Reply to this comment

She pushed on the glass to open the door. That’s wrong.

But she’s yummy.

GreekMINI Jan 19th, 2006 Link Reply to this comment

I felt so sorry for the MINI, almost made me cry…I bet she scratched it up good, no way is she getting near my MINI.

If anyone else has a problem viewing using Firefox, be sure to add http://www.mini.ca to your flashblock whitelist (it doesn’t give you the normal play icon for some reason).

More hilariously racy Canuck advertising; I must do penance now.

Good color combo on the car.

Di Jan 19th, 2006 Link Reply to this comment

I have all of the guys at work here in Toronto going ga ga about it. We were worried about the reaction that our customers would have on it…. but so far it has been taken in very well. Maybe I could sell more cars if I was able to wear an outfit like that! J/K.

Z4MINI Jan 19th, 2006 Link Reply to this comment

Looks like the site is down now….maybe somebody said “Xenon”.

bah Jan 19th, 2006 Link Reply to this comment

Looks like its back up… and still hilarious.

Ian Jan 19th, 2006 Link Reply to this comment

The ‘classic package’ is a decontented Mini Cooper to increase showroom traffic for overtaxed Canadians.

Not on the ‘One’ level – it is still a Cooper – but it doesn’t have standard Cooper items like ASC, XENON, passenger height adjuster, metallic paint.. etc.

I don’t believe there is anything on the car that identifies it as a classic per se.. just less stuff (and less dealer markup) to lower the sticker price.
