THAT IS AWESOME! I just recently totaled my first cooper (ice+telephone pole = not cool) and bought myself a used ’03. This makes me want to go buy back my old one and make a all sorts of furniture for the house.

  • Nathaniel Salzman

I love it! Though I would actually rather have the Mini to play with than the desk.

  • http://www.mightyminiz.com doug

    ACK! The horror!

I hope no real mini’s were harmed in the production of that thing.

mini’s are for driving, not jockeying!

I must now go rinse my eyes of the blasphamy that was just presented to me…

GABE, I’m sending you the saline bill!

    lol

That’s what I need to do the podcast from!

  • giacomo

Now if I can just get the wife to OK as biz write off………maybe not.

  • nervous

Having this at work would definitely make my tax season a little more bearable.

  • fdavid

This is the type of thing that makes me uncomfortable about minis in general…the “cheese factor”. It’s like owning a VW bug, they get abused, dressed and in the most embarrasing ways used as a moving promo prop. Believe me, I see plenty of this here in Manhattan.

  • Osmodious

See, it’s crapola like this that is one of the major reasons mere mortals can’t afford classic cars (even basket cases) these days. Just so some pretentious jerky boy with more money than sense can look like an idiot in his office, I (or some other true enthusiast) can’t get an original Mini. Sheesh…I wonder if the people who buy these things have the matching (well, NON-matching) ’59 Caddy sofa or Cobra love seat as well…

  • giacomo

WOW…….I hope you both feel better now. The cheeze factor, what a crock! it’s just a desk and kinda creative at that.

  • Trick

I wonder if there’s useable storage under the bonnet? Not that it matters. But I wonder.

  • http://www.miniclubsusa.com Luke K

It’s not like thousands of classics are being exterminated for mass production as desks, it’s special order. It’s estimated that by the time the last classic mini came off the assembly line, 5.3 MILLION HAD ALREADY BEEN MANUFACTURED! Now, if you know anyone that has the ability and the desire to convert 5.3 million classic minis into desks, I would understand where the both of you are coming from, or at least 10,000 for that matter. (Classic minis aren’t that much anyway, one is for sale near my house for $8,000) However, there are plenty of classics still out there. This desk is the perfect way of saying, “I’m doing my taxes . . . MOTOR ON!” PS – Fdavid, VW bugs deserve to get abused. The VW bug is an embarassment by itself, even before being converted into some sort of flower power barbie crap mobile. :P

  • giacomo

The Bug was a wonderful mode of transportation for a lot of my generation, hippie, yuppie, yippie, surfer, moms or whatever. I love and still have a premo 1967. It also was affordable for most of us then not the the same can be said for the new MINI.

I love my MCS but time will tell if it stands the test of time as the Bug did.

Kool. If I had money to burn. And an area that would fit the thing. It’s not a very “mini” desk…

  • http://www.miniclubsusa.com Luke K

*Note – The rant was on the new bug, not the old one. It came out bad. I was making fun of this . . .

Personally, I would like it more if it were simply a lightweight replica. Resin/Fiberglass sort, easy to assemble and move without a tow truck.

  • mataku527

I’ve seen something like this one ebay, but it was just the from the windscreen to the bumper made into the desk. For that desk, they clearly state that they don’t use actual Mini’s. I’m guessing it’s the same case here.

  • KE3VP

Will it roll through the office door or does it have to be hoisted in??? ;o)

I’m assuming the engine is still inside for looks…

  • Bart

kool! under $4500 is a bargain.

  • j johnson

Just to let you all know…..these desks are built out of really battered minis saved from the crusher. None of these cars could ever have been salvaged as most of them have the roofs removed. Yes there is storage under the bonnet and in the boot. The desks are even sold with the V5 document as well as any paperwork that comes with it. The idea is to save the mini from the crusher so it would be a little pointless to make one out of fibre glass. The desks can be made in 3 parts for easy access to tight spaces and the lights and horn even work. contact ministatements@btinternet.com for any further info. x
