Being a two MCS family, I'm hopeful that the Traveller retains all of the fun to drive characteristics of the current MCS. I would love to be able to ditch our Subaru Forester and replace one of the MCSs with the Traveller. Would sure help the insurance cost! Can't wait to see the real production version.

Anyone have any insight into the single red spoke on one of the rear wheels? Am I missing something?

I dont like the overall look, but i really appreciate all of the designing and thought that has gone into it. I really like the idea of integrated tool compartments, and a lot of the styling cues like the rally lamps are nice touches. I just feel that the canvas they were working with didnt necessarily flatter their good ideas.

Neoprene? I can't imagine how it will look/hold up a few years down the road after daily exposure to the elements, kind of like the vinyl roofs of the 70s...

Looks kind of neat. Where does the spare go in the two concepts w/out the integrated roof rack? Are they RFs, or does the spare go somewhere else, like under the car?

As much as I like these concept Travellers, to me they are really too close in size to a normal MINI to be worth the effort. At least that's the impression I'm getting...

The point is, we already have one MINI. Getting another that's "slightly" bigger wouldn't make much sense.

I'm still reserving final judgement until I see a production model in person and can compare it to my current wagon.

The NY auto should be from April 14-23 and I will be going on the 15. I can't seem to decide which new Mini to get; should I hold out for the traveler or get the new one that pops up early next year. I would hold out for the traveler if I knew some of the elemets from the concept will be carried out like the barn doors and the nice boot. Also, not sure how the new lenght will effect performance. I am guessing the traveler should be out in fall of 2007 or am I mistaken.

Reminds me a bit of this....

I think the amount of concepts based on this platform shows the future significance BMW/Mini are putting in the longer wheel base traveller....

All it needs is AWD & place to mount the wine cask, and you've got a Swiss ambulance.

Seriously, I like the basic theme behind the concepts---e.g. the stretched wheel base, the rear doors, the mounting of the driving lights in the grille, & some of the interior details. Like others have mentioned, I'd like to see some more "realistic" interpretations of the prototype. Pity about the wheels on all four concepts, none of them strike me as anything other than self-conscious attempts at being "designer-ish."

However--is the spare on the Geneva concept a preview of what's to come? That one I do like.

i agree... i love how companies come up with all these crazy ideas and show the consumer what they COULD do. but after a while all i wanna see is what they WILL do. alotta times im only disappointed to see what happens to a concept car when it goes into production. i never get too hyped over them because i know it'll probably be a whole new car by the time it gets out of the factory. they just took the same body style and gave it a different color scheme and theme for each major show.... no one wants a full set of tools in their boot more than me... especially when im rallying through Queens and E-brake it onto the Belt Parkway... but all i want is to see what the new mini will look like...w/o all the prototype padding that we see in the spyphotos

I confess I'm getting tired of seeing these concept Travellers. All of them have a cool idea or two, but overall they're just weird. Let's produce the real car and get on with it.

This may sound like a bad idea but I’d love to see one of these extended mini’s witht he roof line removed from just behind the front seats and a bed installed in back

Someone call Jalopnik; it's the El CaMINI! Actually, there was a Mini pickup truck.
