Gabe…you one crazy mother! I like where your head’s at ;)
ReplyIt’s another DIY Friday here at MotoringFile and we have another official MINI PDF for you. Yes, it is probably a crazy idea – retrofitting something like the H/K system. But maybe just crazy enough to make sense for a few folks.
[ MINI Harmon Kardon Retrofit ] Official PDF
Wow! I really wish I had the HK, but that’s more work than I think I can handle.
Paying the dealer $90/hour for 5-6 hours of work doesn’t make much sense either.
ReplyThis would have to be extremely expensive. Has anyone priced out the components needed to do the conversion? I would be curious to know how big the number is.
ReplyGabe, thanks for posting these documents. Even if we don’t install, they are useful to learn how the components are configured and work in the car.
There have been more than a few PDF installation instructions that you posted but not added to your DIY page. If you have a chance to update the list, it would make finding these PDF documents much easier.
Replyrkw – you’re absolutely right and I apologize for not getting that updated recently. I need to just block off an hour or so to do that.
Replyrkw, try using the search function up top for what you are looking for.

ReplyFor what you can pay for a HK you can buy a really nice alpine radio and some speakers. That would sound better and look better too in my book.

MotoringFile also allows use of Markdown formatting in the comment section. This accomplishes the same formatting as HTML but is typically easy to use.
