Sneaking up on #50 ( ! ) We review numbers for the month so far, answer some listener feedback, tease you about the next contest and wish Todd a happy birthday! Yes, it is today, so be nice! We also covered the news of the week.
Don’t forget db and Todd will be at AMVIV this week, hanging out at the meet and greet, the track and the banquet, so come on by and say hi! And come back tomorrow for the first WhiteRoofRadio give-away! It will be cool, trust me!
Quick question: was there a technical problem with the audio for you, Gabe? No matter what I did, your voice had horrible distortion on it (Todd and db didn’t seem to be similarly affected).
Also, two points:
1. Both of the newest Jaguars (XK and XJ) are lighter than their previous versions, as is the new 911 Turbo. Fortunately the MINI is not the only car fighting weight creep.
2. The GTI is not 3300 lbs; it’s 3175 (plus or minus 10 lbs – I don’t have the figure in front of me). That was a misprint due to the (presumably lazy proofer’s) carrying over of Jetta stats onto the original GTI pdf sheet. They also inexplicably said the GTI has a beam rear axle.
For what it’s worth I actually did list the correct weight in the GTI review I did awhile back.

Todd was sick and didn’t catch that in the recording. It should be fixed by the next show.
Thanks for the response, guys! I was flattered you included it, and I’ll try to make some more crank calls. 😉 I forgot to wish Todd a Happy Birthday, and a belated one to Gabe, as well. The shows are only getting better, and of course, you guys are now mandatory listening in the MINI community. Way to go!

Ah, I must have missed that. It’s just that I’ve seen the porky 3,300lb figure bandied about so often that it’s in danger of become one of those false internet factoids (like the misperception that a USDM Neon uses a MINI engine, and therefore an SRT-4 motor will fit in a MINI).
Oh snap! I can put an SRT engine in my MINI? 😉
