Interesting read - I am still hoping for a June/July delivery. I wonder if the car will clear all the speed bumps that are down every second street in Edinburgh - or if I will have to copy Ferraris are reverse down whole streets!
I want to take the car on the Euro Enduro which takes place in September so I hope the Italians make light work of my motor.

I would love to see an article, Gabe, that details how best to wash and polish our beloved MINI. Readers could forward any tips on what products and methods they utilise!

The brochure I got says 16" disc brakes. That would make the brakes on the GP bigger then the brakes on the new M5.... where's the proof reader/fact checker when you need them?

A couple of observations:
1. Says it is ok to use 89 octane.
2. now I know why some people have said the oem driving light switch doesn't fit right in the blank on the euro parcel shelf - its designed for the headlight adjustment switch :-)

My rental MC in England had the manually adjusting lights and they were pretty cool. I think it's a requirement across the pond but maybe not. There is a 5-position (I think) switch on the far right (driver's) side of the dash by the door. You dim them for city driving and then crank 'em up when you're out in the country near Stonehenge for instance :-D

mds--

The auto car wash warning is in regards to the spoiler. The spoiler is larger & protrudes differently than the standard MCS &/or JCW spoilers.

I believe it's also a glue mounted spoiler.

I don't know fi this is in the normal MC/MCS manual, but I love how it says not to use a "Automatic car wash"

Interesting to see that they have manual adjustment levels on the lights - wonder if that feature is making it to the US - I had it on my 04 WRX STi and I liked it a lot!

Gabe,
Can you settle a "spitting contest" over at mini2.com?

Where is the GP being built? In Italy at Bertone; or on the assembly line at Oxford ?

Interesting, and perhaps of concern is that maximum gross weight is reduced from 3494 lbs to 3086 lbs...which is basically maxed out with just two people sitting inside; 400lbs. Perhaps due to lower-profile tires?

The manual for my US-market 2006 MCS also lists pressures for speeds in above 100 mph. It appears to be new for this model year (as the 2005 PDF does not).

Interesting… They give recommended tyre pressures for 100+ mph!

And the wheel studs tighten down a bit more to 103 lb. ft. of torque instead of the listed 88.5 lb. ft. listed for my 2003 MCS.

Excuse me for getting technical but the 2006 Cooper S specs list its weight at 2678 lbs. and the GP is listed in the manual at 2634 lbs. - a difference of 44 lbs.

Wasn't the GP supposed to be about 50 kilos or 110 lbs. lighter???
