Now that MINI has held it’s first Journalist test drives for European publications, we should start to see a handful of reviews popping up over the next few weeks. First up (after MINI2’s review) is Peter Burgess from MSN Cars UK. Here’s an excerpt:
>So can a Mini with two seats really be worth £22,000? The ‘Mini Cooper S featuring the John Cooper Works GP Kit’ isn’t the raw performance car, the Mini version of a 911GT3, that some had hoped for. Instead it is a more comfortable, more useable compromise but a car that feels rather special for all that. The fact that the whole UK allocation of less than 500 quickly sold out perhaps says it all. If you haven’t got your order in already, too bad. If your name is already on the list, chances are you’ll be dead chuffed.

maybe it’s just me, but does anyone else find it weird that the UK press is test driving LHD MINI’s?

maybe it’s just me, but does anyone else find it weird that the UK press is test driving LHD MINI’s?
This was from the press event in Italy, the same where the MINI2 review came from. The journalists don’t really have a choice about what they are given to drive.
The Bose stereo is something I had not expected, ah well , I’m not even sure MINI themselves know about that ????
Hmmm, I think the ‘Bose stereo’ reference may be ‘mis-information….
YIPEEEEEEEE – another positive review! I am still waiting for the acid test however – Evo Magazine!

SOmeone who speaks Queens english please explain this to me. Chuffed is a good thing right?
I have just been reading through the review of the GP on the fifth gear website and they mentioned a special triple coat paint job (whereas Minis usually have two) – does anyone have more information regarding this?
“Chuffed” or “I am well chuffed” is English slang and basically means that you are pleased!
…hmmm…if I remove my rear seat and add 8hp, I meet the weight and hp. I’ll keep my suspension and brake mods, and, my car. Thank you very much.

Not sure you will meet the weight from just removing the rear seats – but I see where you are going!
So here is another review of a really ‘non-review’ of this car.
Nobody has quite come out to say how it is when compared to a Cooper S with the JCK Kit…
to Daniel:
Paul over at MINI2 drove the GP and the JCW back to back and gave his review. check out the threads over there and you’ll be sure to find it.
There’s a link to Paul’s review on the front page of MF as well.
