[...] As MotoringFile exclusively reported (a couple of times over the last few months) MINI of Canada was unable to offer the JCW GP due to seemingly not wanting to spend the money on re-certifying the car to meet Canada’s low-speed crash regulations. The answer? A package chalk full of all the latest JCW accessories and go-fast parts offered on top of the standard MCS: The JCW Competition Package.

?!?! I'll take Quebec drivers over Ontario drivers any day. I think the insurance companies agree since insurance costs a fraction of the cost in Quebec.

My bad, it was mentioned right there at the end! :-) Oh, and it is 'no-charge' scheduled maintenance. That'll get you your first oil service (~16,000 km) and first inspection (~ 39,000 km). Break-in oil change at 2,000 km is still recommended but I'm pretty sure it is not included in this package.

David

The header says "JCW Rallye Package" but, for clarification, the Rallye edition is not a JCW. It has the same engine, suspension, brakes and exhaust as a MCS. Great value!

What? No mention of the no charge 3 years / 60,000 km scheduled maintenance?

There will also be a Cooper special edition (called the Soho) coming in a couple months. Pricing TBA.

It still irritates me to no end that the US can't get folding side mirrors or electric windscreens!!

great packages tho...

very sweet, indeed.

I really wish this is the way MINI had offered special packages for the U.S. I still think the GP looks cheap with bolt on aero pieces.

I like the fact that with the Canadian packages, you can load the car up with premium items like sunroof and HK stereo. I'm not looking for an ultralight vehicle as much as I want it loaded with options and all the JCW bits. Plus, I want it to look classy with color-keyed mirrors, roofs, etc. This is great news for Canadian MINI customers.
