Hey Brent, do you have anything for the MINI Clubman S yet? I corresponded with you back in March of this year, but as of then you didn't have any plans to produce this. I would think with the twin outboard pipes on the Clubman S and the absence of the battery there too it shouldn't be too hard, but what do I know, eh?

There are hitches out there for Mini Coopers that do not work on the S's. Does anyone know if it is just an exhaust clearance issue? Does anyone know of a why to get one of these hitches to work on a S?

I would LOVE to get this hitch, especially when considering to add a second dog to the family - I'll need a place for camping gear - however the tongue weight at 100lbs isn't going to cut it if I get a tray - I'd HAVE to go with a trailer, but all I need is a tray that'll hold 200lbs or so (mostly I'm afraid I'd have the tray on there and someone would sit on it and none of my friends are less than 100lbs).

"The trailer they offer is also WAY too expensive at $875. It can be bought from Northern for $199.
http://www2.northerntool.com/product/7769_7769.htm

which leaves $675!!!!!!!! for paint and decking material!!!"

Stan - Thanks for the input, but you simplify things way too much. $199 gets you a trailer with a crappy Chinese paint job, no spare tire, no decking, and not even shipped! When you add the cost of sandblasting, a custom matched paint job, aluminum tread plate decking, a 12" spare tire, custom painted to match wheels, tie downs, and shipping, $875 is relatively reasonable for a custom trailer.

Also remember, there were thousands and thousands of hitches manufactured for your truck, the MINI is truly a nitch market. Think we are pricy, try MINI FINI!

I'm very happy with the Miniature Towbar. The instructions are good. And using the hole in the bumper where the reverse light goes is inspired!
I bought a folding trailer from Harbor Freight.

Looks like a neat idea, but at $325 is quite expensive for the amount of materials and labor involved to make it. Last hitch i bought for my truck was less than half this price, with twice the steel! Also looks like they did away with the center light hole on the new MINIS to come, so perhaps we will see the price on this drop to a more acceptable range in the future.

I really like the pop-up enlarged pictures except for one thing: they're hardly enlarged at all (roughly 1.5x linear). On today's high pixel density flat panel monitors they're still tiny and barely helpful.

Gabe, it would be really nice if you'd make them meaningfully enlarged; at least 3x linear would be useful.

Thx,

With my MiniFini Tow Link, I tow my Vintage Formula vee race car and spares. More HP and 2000 lbs less weight than the 1999 4Runner i used to use.

great review. i found the site after i had already bought the mini fini tow bar, however with brents instructions was able to get a wiring harness installed. on my nextmini (3years from now ) i will probably go with miniature trailes. BTW, i use my tow system for camping and pull a motorcyle pop-up camper. so far 5k miles and avg 29.5mpg.

I was going to pick one of these up from a guy selling his on NAM until my funding fell through. It looks like it'll be an awesome mod.

He still has it for sale. Click Here.
