Reply“he car uses a small gasoline engine with four 160 horsepower electric motors on each wheel.”
So it’s got AWD too?
ReplyA very interesting development, would like to see it light a fire under Mini to get busy and creat a performance hybrid mini.
ReplyMaking me itch even more to see “Who Killed the Electric Car?” I really wish that somebody would put some energy into going beyond the mediocre hybrids out there now. I’d be first in line. Maybe BMW can put their money where there mouth is with their whole “independent” ad campaign…
Replythanks for that, Timothy. Magnificent. ±4 hour recharge, ±250 miles range.
ReplyWhat the? This can’t be real. What’s up with those photoshop watercolor-filter pictures??
ReplySeriously, I would love to have a different type of mini down the road. It would be great to have a mini that wasnt so polluting like ours current minis are…the more time passes the more uncomfortable I feel of pumping gas at the station…luckyly I only drive about 8 miles a day.
ReplyIs it me, or does Tim’s Tesla look alot like a re-worked Lotus body?
ReplyHey Gabe, just in case you read the feedback on this silly article, on a more real note, is MINI working on something with E85 power or Biodesel? I would love to know!
ReplyLotus is building the car bodies for the Tesla Roadster. A whole bunch of the Tesla designers were hired away from Lotus — so many that Lotus threatened to cancel the contract to build the bodies if they didn’t stop poaching their employees.
ReplyGee . . . . looks like the car could use some work in the fender flares dept.
ReplyI would love to see BMW couple this hybrid concept with the hydrogen engines that they have been working on. That would be a truely spectactular car!!!
ReplyCheck out this page from DansData.com. He smells something fishy with the whole deal..

Reply[...] Several weeks back we brought you a link about a company that was creating a fully electric MINI. The concept includes four electric motors (one per wheel) with a combined horsepower of 640. This information has circulated quietly on the web for over a month now with little notice outside the MINI community. Until today when a Treehugger.com storywas posted on Digg. So with all this recent publicity we thought we’d re-post a link to the information for those that missed it the first time around. [...]
