MotoringFile Magnetic Badges: The 6th Set

The new badges and decals are here! It’s been over a month since our last update and but we hope we’ve created a handful of new magnetic grille badge designs to keep you going through the dog days of summer. Let’s take a look at them:

For those attending MINI Takes the States, your badge and/or decal has arrived. This badge illustrates the MTTS route across the US and your committement to one serious road trip. Wear it proud!

Elsewhere in the new collection we have an update to our very popular DSC off badge. Only this time it’s a bit more stleath-like with no acompanying text. Then we’ve got our own answer the new VW “fast” campaign. Oh and just because the 4th of July is over, doesn’t mean we can’t get the red, white and blue out. Then of course there’s three new countries to add to the list of our popular flag badges. And finally, since talk like a pirate day isn’t too far away, we’ve created the MotoringFile skull and cross bones for your MINI plundering.

For those who are new to the MotoringFile magnetic badge scene, the badges are magnetic and designed to be used with MINI’s official grille badge holder. They are made from high-quality materials that will not fade in the sun. You can get a single badge for $7.50 and a set of six for only $37 (bottom of page 2). And for those who have no more room on their grilles we also offer high-quality decals of each badge priced at $4.50.

I’ve got your fast right here is awesome. Really nice job.

That’s a much nicer MTTS design than one I saw online a few weeks ago :)

  • The Blue Canary

I’ld like to see some of these done as T-Shirts. I want too many of them, and not enough MINI. =P

  • http://www.motoringfile.com/ Gabe

There’s a DSC-off tshirt in the MotoringFile Cafepress store.

Dammit Gabe! You’ve got to stop being so damn creative. I’m going broke collecting these.

  • lTZMTOR

Surprised MINI/USA is allowing you to use the word MINI as I was told I couldn’t use it in almost any form.

    Nice designs though.

Gabe, How about one commemorating the Italian World Cup win? :)

I should hope MINI has the good sense to let Gabe use the word ‘MINI’ all he likes as MotoringFile is the best free advertising they’ll ever get. Awesome badges par usual, Gabe! I’ve got my first set on-order from Todd as I type.

And I second the t-shirt desire. Too bad Todd doesn’t have a screen print machine. Or do you Todd? Ha ha!

You can find our Italian Flag badge here.

how about some f1 badges gabe?

I’d love to but copyrights would get in the way.

Just curious as to how many people swap their badges around? I bought some of the very first group and have yet to change the first two that I put on the car. The others are on the fridge. So as much as I like the new designs, I’m holding off buying them because, well, the fridge is already full.

I swap mine out every couple of weeks or so. I stuck the others to a metal shelf in the garage, so I see them every time I go out to get in the car. My wife teases me about changing them every now and then…she compares them to earrings.

Great job on the badges, Gabe! A couple designs in this latest set made 6 that I can’t live without. :)

    Nathaniel…

I found out… BMW/MINI don’t see it that way. I had to pull MINI & MINI COOPER off 5 designs I’m doing for my online store due out in November. I see the word MINI and the other terms used here and there on stuff for sale and wonder how they get away with it. Also BMW/MINI is very closed as to giving you any parameters as to usage…. as I found out.

    Sorry Gabe… I digress… nice designs.

  • Nathaniel Salzman

Yeah, I can certainly understand MINI/BMW being stingy with the name when it comes to merchandising. I hope they leave Gabe alone. Too bad about your efforts though.

  • lTZMTOR

I just wish they would give more guidelines as to what ya can do and what ya can’t but understand why they are so tight about that also an rightly so. I’ll be using LTZMTOR.US for the name and so far it seems OK.

  • The Blue Canary

Thanks for pointing out the shirt. And I keep my extra badges on the fridge, and change them from time to time. IF I remember that is. I’ll be swapping out my badge at MiTM. Think Todd might be there selling them? That would be WAY cool.

  • Jakob

Thanks for much for Swedish badge! I’ll proudly put one on display! Although the Norwegian never really needed to be made…:)

  • Chad in VA

Only two weeks late!! ;) I’ve been waiting for this next batch so I could finally put my order in. My MINI should be in my grubby little hands next week!!!

  • Mark
And I keep my extra badges on the fridge, and change them from time to time.

That’s where we keep our extras, although on our fridge in the garage. That way we can see them everytime we get in the car.

Gabe, have any clubs commissioned badges from you yet?

Gabe, have any clubs commissioned badges from you yet?

Heck yes!! I know both my club and Metroplex MINIs have had badges made. They’re sweet. Metroplex’s designs are really nice.

  • Theo

Glad to see Gabe’s badge holder mounted in the proper location for a LHD MINI. Professor Michael Smith researched badge placement in Royal Auto Club materials and found that, historically, badges were to be mounted to be easily seen by oncoming vehicles (i.e.; on the driver’s side).

That means that badges in the US should be on the opposite side of the grille from the proper mounting spot in the UK.

  • Francis

I like the skull & crossbones…. anyone know where to get a Jolly Rogers flag or antennae topper to match?

    Nice job Gabe!

  • heyduard

I love the roundels. I’ve always thought the MINI’s manuverability was akin to fighter planes of yore. The Spitfire! The Camel!

  • http://mini2.co.za timmee

Got my 93 badge and decal in the post yesterday! Thanks Todd, Gabe and db, and well done, Randy!

  • TSizemore3

How about a badge declaring “100% Lucas Free!”

  • http://www.dickdavid.com dickdavid

Looks like it’s time to do another order. Awesome badges!

  • MillieTheMini

I want a French Flag badge with the letters ZIZOU in the middle!

(yes yes, I know there will be catcalls, boos and hisses from the Italians here on MF, but Zidane’s still my hero, butthead or not!!)

  • MillieTheMini

On the topic of badges – has anyone gotten their magnetic badge swiped from their car’s badge holder yet?

Mine got swiped a couple of weeks ago – it was a custom made England Three Lions badge, I can only imagine that some England fan wanted a fridge magnet during the World Cup!! :-(

  • O(=^=)OCapn

The Fast one is by far the best.

We need to figure out a way to put it on the back so they can see it as we pass them.

The star is awesome as is the USA and the DSC off. It think the skull and cross bones could be meaner. keep up the good work.

  • alpinamike

Finally, I have been waiting a while for you to put one out. Looks good gabe. Now you just need a stamp at the end that says “completed”.

  • alpinamike

Or one that says “NO BADGE”…

  • http://www.fireballed.com Fireball Tim

Gimmee one a those, dangit!!! COOL!

  • http://blu-iguana.us J/C

Damn those first three badges are . . . “a toda madre!” . . . (I wish there was an English equivalent.)

  • http://bravo5.org/blog blalor
    a toda madre

“to all mother”? Babelfish, you have let me down once again! But so has the American education system, so it’s all good. ;-)

Gabe, these are nicely timed with payday this month. Thank you! (Er, I think…)

What kind of quality are those CafePress t-shirts? Are the designs screened on and will they last, or do you get one of those cheap rubberized iron-ons?

I do cycle through a pretty small selection of badges, but fairly regularly. The MotD badge probably won’t get used again. I use the “DSC OFF” badge (#1) for track days and other events (or when I’m feeling saucy). I’ve got a limited-edition MotoringFile checks-only badge that I wear when I want to wear the colors. The RAF roundel is good for bug target practice on road trips. I’ll probably save the Ireland flag for St. Paddy’s day. They all live on the fridge in the kitchen when they’re not on the car. I might have to get a bigger fridge.

Got my 93 badge and decal in the post yesterday!

Glad you’re getting something; sounds like his customers are getting the shaft

Glad to see Gabe’s badge holder mounted in the proper location for a LHD MINI.

I got a ribbing from Todd for putting mine in front of the driver. That’s where the ram air intake tube is for the air box, and the badge may be blocking it. I think I recouped about 5 ponies by swapping it to the other side. ;-)

I change mine out almost every other day. I keep a round cookie sheet in the boot holding my spare badges for a quick change.

So, for the last couple days I’ve been bragging about my new grill badges (thank you very much, btw) and a comment on my blog says, “I dont think the ‘move right’ one works over here.”

Doh! Perhaps you guys could to do some special UK edition badges for our friends across the pond?

  • http://kropp.poetshome.com/blog Grendel

Very cool 6th edition. I’ve got quite a few of these already but I have a suggestion for one more – I’m moving to Chicago in mid October and I think it would be very cool to have the Chicago city flag grille badge.
