Ok- brass tacks time. In March I’ll get a call that says we’ve received your Mini and we’ve installed the Aero kit and your service bill is $1200 (if there is painting to be done). If it really is 1.5 hours because cars orders with the Aero kit come complete with the prepainted parts mentioned in the pdf, then I’d be in for less than $200. Anyone have enough experience with ordering previous Aero kit with a new car to help set my expectations. I’m trying to get dealer to quote, but they don’t seem to have read this pdf yet.

DIY should not effect warrantee if all genuine parts. Its illegal in the UK (Not sure in US) for a car company to void a warrantee because work is carried out at a MINI dealer/garage. As long as the parts are approved BMW/MINI parts then they are covered. The incorrect fitting of parts which causes damage to other parts means that those parts are not covered by BMW warrantee. If you do the job right and the parts are MINI then they have to uphold the warrantee. You don’t even have to have your car serviced by BMW/MINI to keep your warrantee as long as the parts/fluids used are as specced in the manual.

Having seen the JCW kit on demo cars here in the UK I can confirm this is the same kit. It would be interesting to know if a DIY fit would effect the warranty?

Right - this is a service bulletin. They typically don't even refer to the parts by the full name - just by the part #. However this is indeed the JCW aerokit. For one it is the same kit shown on the JCW website.

I noticed that the trim on the front and rear bumpers are separate parts now. So I assume they’re black unpainted plastic unlike older aero kit where the trim had to be masked off and painted with black texured paint.
