I love, love, love my R56 MCS. But it will be darned hard to put a kid and stroller in it, especially since the stroller and car seat for MINI isn't sold in the US. If I can keep my MINI and have an extra pair of doors, I say go for it. For the so-called purists, get a grip! This isn't the 60s anymore.

I just saw an illustration in Motor Trend of the Mini Moke. Don't know what it's based on, if it's an actual pic or a concept. But it looked totally awesome. If it performs like a Mini, it will be a great new addition.

[...] MINI’s Top Secret Colorado Project (aka R58) MF Exclusive: Since the beginning of the decade, BMW has been studying additional MINI model configurations and how they would fit within the brand. The first (and most obvious choice) was the convertible that debuted in 2004. Next will be the return of the Clubman moniker (but in classic Traveller form) as an extended three door MINI. Our sources are telling us that BMW is currently looking at making the Colorado (almost surely to be tagged internally as the R58 when finalized) an all-wheel drive vehicle that sits higher and can be used for light off-roading without sacrificing much of the typical MINI performance. Intresting! visit:- MotoringFile » Archive » MINI’s Top Secret Colorado Project (aka R58) for more! [...]

Despite how many of you feel that variations would destroy "mininess", some of us need to balance our desires to drive a mini with the reality of practicality in day to day life. I am personally waiting for the Clubman version of the MCS so that I can enjoy and justify this acquisition. A Mini SUV would actually be more attractive to me (think Suzuki SX4, but with Mini drivability and cachet). Damn the purists! If you don't like it, stick to the core models. It may not take off in the US, but I am sure it would up here in the Great White North, where premium small autos are quite popular (I see quite a few A3's around, actually). My two cents (that's 1.5 US).
