Official MINI Press Release: Sales of MINI did not quite reach the previous year’s level with 11,905 vehicles delivered in February (previous year: 12,215/-2.5%). The new MINI has been available in the USA since the middle of February. Further overseas markets such as Japan will follow this month. The model range of the second generation of MINI will be expanded from April onwards by the addition of the new MINI Cooper D and the new MINI One. In addition, the company announced at the Geneva Motor Show that it would be launching the MINI Clubman later this year.
After the MINI Convertible, this is the third model variant of the MINI that has been available from the BMW Group since summer 2001. As the new models become increasingly available over the course of the year, sales of the MINI brand are also set to become more dynamic. For the year to the end of February, MINI, with 25,532 cars sold, is still 8.0% below last year’s figure (27,755).
My dealer still has only a few R56 and several 2006 MC on the lot. I expect March will be the first month where we shall see an increased number of MINIs.
Honestly what did they think, the completely ruined the mini name with the hideous 2007 model, and the soon to be “clubman” butchers it even more Bring back the old models mini!
im just glad i got my blue 06 mcs =)
Brendon, your hysterical, hyberbolic rant completely ruins the name, “rational”.
I’ve driven ’03 and ’06 Mini Coopers, more than a few times. And they were fun enough, to be sure, but lacking somewhat.
Unfazed, and on a leap of faith (and high resale value, should I hate it), I ordered an ’07.
I picked up my ’07 Cooper today. In the walkthrough at the dealer and in the short drive home, it became clear to me that this ’07 is better than the previous car. In.Every.Way.
If by “butchering”, you mean they tore the old one apart and then put it back together with better everything, then yes, Mini butchered it.
Adrian, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Neither car is “better” than the other. Both generations are just “different”. The MK1’s were beautifually design, raw and fun. The MK2’s are more appealing to the automotive masses, more mature in demenanor and more “BMW” in feel all around. It all comes down to what appeals to you.
agree with brendon, the 2007 mini isn’t better, it’s more like all the other cars (and though not enough to be really competitive in size, comfort…)… and to permit this, they modify the external body…now looks “hideous” , like botox injection 🙁
In my opinion, the last best representant of mini revival is the cabrio Sidewalk (all is said in the name “side walk”, that R56 cannot pretend !).
… may be with time…long time… but it isn’t what’s bmw expect i supppose .
