Continuing efforts by MINI to stay ahead of the competition.
ReplyFor all those who don’t want or need the silver and/or optional chrome trim in the R56 interior, it looks like MINI may be offering a new choice. A source at the Oxford Plant has told us that recent R55 prototypes have come down the line with a new black/dark chrome package in place of the silver or chrome. What is not known is whether this trim will be an exclusive option on the 2008 Clubman or available across the R56 range as well.
I’ve always felt interior chrome was crucial as without it the Mini looks cheap. This might be kind of cool. Looking forward to seeing it.
ReplyI have the chrome in my MINI Cooper. I don’t know about anyone else, but the chrome in my car is creaky, especially around the Nav system! I don’t think I’ll choose it for the Clubman.
Replyminibetty – I have an ‘06 MCS with chrome lined interior, only 4,700+ miles so far, but no chrome creeks or rattles despite the mine field roads of Ohio. Maybe they’ve worked the bugs out of the chrome interiors?

ReplyThe plastic chrome pieces on the R56 are heat “welded” into their respective parts, eliminating the potential “squeeks”. Look for this method of application to be the standard with MINI’s in-house chrome/decor applications.
ReplyI’ve dressed up both the interior and exterior of my 02 MC with some shiny bits and really like the look. Will have to see how this new option looks when pictures are posted but it’s always nice to have more choices to youify your MINI.
ReplyNice idea, would rather see black nickel though but either will look really hot.
Replycan we get this option if we already have an r56 and get it put in, or is the only way to get it is through buying a new mini?
ReplyAlmost anything (almost?) can be retrofitted afterwards when it comes to interior trim pieces from what I’ve seen. You can even retrofit Colorline trim if you don’t have the color you like.
Reply[...] quick update about the new trim option we mentioned a few weeks back. It was initially suggested that the new dark/black/shadow chrome trim option was exclusive to the [...]
