The Dutch auto site autojunk.nl has some interesting photos of a Clubman prototype undergoing some testing out in the wild. Now we’ve seen dozens of Clubman shots out in the wild, but these are fairly unique. For one we have confirmation that Right-hand drive model (like the one spotted) will indeed have the coach door located on the right side of the car. While no surprise MotoringFile readers, it’ll come as a shock to the readers of UK car mags who’ve all reported the door will switch to the left side of the car when it comes to their market. Also confirmed in this image is the return of the silver roof (which will be an exclusive option on the Clubman) and the optional sunroof.

But the most interesting aspect? If you look closely at the front of the car, you’ll notice (beyond the test driver taking a picture of the guy taking a picture of him) the distinctive air intake of a MINI Cooper D.

This gives further verification to what we’ve reported for months; MINI will be offering the Clubman with every engine option available in the Coupe as well. Look for the Clubman D to debut in the spring of 2008 – a few months after the debut of the petrol line-up.
