Well Multi, if you can explain the physics of how two cars with the same engine, one of which is heavier would have the same performance I would love to hear it. Base fact is the Clubman is longer and will be heavier, no way around that, and while the ride will be better the turn radius will be down. Hence it will have to turn harder into each corner. I believe that a good clubman driver could out preform a bad coupe driver. Take the same driver in each car and the one with the lowest weight will win.

This car has its place in the Mini market, but not in my garage lol.

Jon, I would not be surprised if the Clubman can keep up with the R56 in the twisties and at the track.

Ride quality should be better due to the longer wheelbase.

However, I still think MINI is putting themselves between a rock and a hard place by refusing to offer a rear door on the left side of the vehicle.

This cost cutting measure will make the car hard to justifiy, specially on right hand drive markets.

Well I think the Clubman is looking decent, not a bad design. Still a little boxy to my eye but then again so was the Traveler.

Never have had any desire to collect a Traveler and can say the same things that kept me away from it will keep me far away from the Clubman. Can see it being a hit for Mini as there are a lot of people that seem to be looking for extra room. Too me the higher stance of the R56, along with the extra weight and longer wheelbase I see a car that will not turn or accelerate with a R56. Guess there is more to life though than that though lol.

So where are these being assembled? In Oxford? How come there are no photos from outside there?

Because we have a private test track on site - and if anyone takes a '55 out onto the street, they're not stupid enough to leave it unattended.

That would be sweet if the Clubman S was AWD! Im thinking about getting the JCW kit put on it as well. But I really want to take advantage of the miles per gallon but I really need at least 200hp..

No.

Yes, there is still camo on the rear doors but as I've said before - the lights remain in the car body....there are openings in the door panel itself through which the lights 'poke' through AND a single trim pannel in the same colour as the roof will go from Roof to rear bumper. Look out for the Sparkling Silver/Black combination and some unique 5spoke alloys - Sehr gut!

Do we have any idea yet on what the likely gas mileage will be for the Clubman compared to the R56, or how much more it’s likely to cost? Also, at one point it was suggested that the Clubman would come with AWD standard – is that true?
