That’s fantastic news! I’m hoping it makes it through Texas again, but I’m sure the folks up north would love a chance to be part of the event as well.
ReplyAs heard on Whiteroofradio recently, MINI USA is in the early planning stages of a large event similar to 2006’s MINI Takes the States. We had heard noise last year (as early as during MTTS) that the power that be at MINI USA were pro the idea. However we had not heard a definitive statement that “something” was going to happen until now.
Now the only questions left are what, when and where.

ReplyOK No move vacation for me. Must save up all my days! I want to do the entire thing!
ReplyAre we going East to West this time? Will this be for the intro of the Clubman’s like what they did for the GP? WooHoo! THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!
ReplyI’d love to see a route up through the northern half of the country – colorado, yellowstone, black hills, minneapolis… ;-)
ReplyWe enjoyed the first one so much! I will be the first one to sign up for 08!
ReplySounds like it will be fun! I hope to have my MINI by then and be able to join in the festivity.
ReplyGreat to hear, not to sure of doing a cross country drive every couple of years with this event. I agree with the idea of the “bookend” events that was discused on White Roof Radio #151. See positives and negatives to the cross country event concept. The best thing is that it gives a large cross section of mini drivers to join in. I had the chance to join some of it last year but don’t know if my schedule will ever allow me the time to make the compleate trip, I don’t think I am alone in this reality.
As for coast to coast run maybe US 50, maybe seperate runs from either coast to a central meet. Would love to see the idea’s others have. Personally I would love to see Mini develop a performance driving school like BMW has, and use it as a intro event at either end.
ReplyMINIUSA, whatever you do next year, please make sure to include Florida in the route.
ReplyIf they keep it within a reasonable distance of N. Alabama, I’ll be there :-D I’m still upset that I missed the Memphis-Nashville leg of MTTS.
ReplyThis is great news! I hope they keep it during the summer months. (Being a schoolteacher has some benefits.)
ReplyStarting from each WING of the country (from the MINI logo), the two groups could meet up at the geographical center of the U.S., in the middle of Kansas somewhere…
MINI Meets in the Middle 07? (MMM07)
best I can do on a Monday.
ReplyI doubt MINI would do this “just because.” I would bet they are going to tie this in with the JCW model. The one with the rumored big HP increase. Not the one recently announced with only a minor HP bump.
ReplyI believe you could be correct Craig, I am assuming we will see either the new JCW or the new Clubman released about then.
ReplyHow about Wisconsin miniusa. Packer country. Miller brewing in Milwaukee. lots to see and do in Wisconsin.
ReplyBen – We’ve already got it under way! September 8th, Milwaukee. Be there or be square because it is going to be the Brew City MINI Tour (aka. MINI Takes MILWAUKEE!) – Theresa
