One of our favorite R56 accessories are the newly updated driving lights. MINI has fixed some of the issues with the previous versions with a stronger mounting system and larger lamp design. The result is a great looking accessory that gives the MINI a vintage rally look. You can check out the parts list, wiring diagram and installation instructions below.
[ R56 Driving Lights ] Official MINI Install PDF
Sign us up for the next gargoyle auction at Sotheby’s, I hear the sale will include one of the MINIs from the video promo disaster that premiered right here on MF a few months ago. It has been reported that Pepto-Bismo sales among former MINI enthusuasts sky-rocketed during this same period and sent many viewers to have their eyes examined to confirm they were not having a bad dream. THE END
When my dealer installed the driving lights they routed the wiring to the lights over the top of the bracket even though the installation instructions say otherwise.
“Route the connecting cable (1) under the holder E through
the front centre grille C to the socket casing K.”
Routing the wiring over the bracket pinches the wiring between the lamp housing and the bracket so that eventually the wiring will fail. This is not noticable unless you remove the lamp housing (which I did to install my badge).
Also it appears that the dealer did not use the accessory grill, but infact modified the existing grill, and they certainly charged more than the 1.26 hours noted.
Looks like the lights will come on with the normal headlamps? According to the end of the PDF this seems to be the case. I had seen on northamericanmotoring that these only come on with high beams.
I’m a relatively new viewer of MF and enjoy reading the great commentary. Earlier today I submitted two comments and only one appears. Perhaps it did not transmit successfully? Please advise if you recommend I re-submit my post. Thank you. You guys do a great job and I welcome the opportunity to express my P.O.V. in the forum MF provides.

I read not long ago about a MINI SUV. This would be a really fun additional to the upcoming line-up of new MINI models that I eagerly anticipate. I’d also like to know if the diesel will become available in the USA?
Thanks,
Max of Anchorage

No. The healight’s high beams or brights are referred to as th “main beam” in the UK. They only work with the high beams “on”.
In the US, with the modified grill and labor, what is the typical final cost of those lights?
Argh.. Too bad. I’d get the lights if you could switch them on with the low beams.
Does MF have a moderator or host who responds directly to questions from commentators? I posted a question regarding a prior reply that never appeared in your column and never received an answer or reason for the omission. I would appreciate the courtesy of a reply. You guys do a great job. Keep up the good work … and please don’t forget to answer my question. Thanks again for a great website full of interesting information and opportunity for unabridged self-expression. It’s awesome!

Well, they are all on the run at MINI United right now. Probably taking just enough time to put up additional posts relating to that event and not much else right now. Can you blame them? I would want to enjoy every second if it were me. 😉
i just used this site because instructions weren’t included in the kit. thank you very much motoringfile for providing these. eventhough there were some vague spots, i figured it out. anyways i was wondering if there is a spot where you can splice in to use with normal lights or even just driving lights? are there any diagrams available for this? as in spot locations on the computer? thanks again motoringfile!
