I was told by our MINI guy that NZ may only take two seat rear, and that may be the same for Australia. If you order your own spec'ed car I can't see why they won't let you get the three seat rear. The UK car spec above says two seats are an option so I guess UK is spec'ed with three seater. It would probably be available through the parts department as an after sale fit anyhow.

Did I read correctly: "opportunity for MINI to enter the market with five seats"? If this comes to Australia with five seats, this is something that my young family and dog are definitely looking for in the MINI! An optinal tow bar / hitch also has the Clubman in my sights.

Strangely mentions a "design highlight" of the inconvenient 3rd door opening only on RH for RH drive markets. This is a major blunder for a car that's supposed to British.
Obviously the car caters for LHD markets (USA, Canada, Europe etc) and they hope to sell more cars than the British market/colonies as well as Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand.
It would have been better to do away with the extra door completely as with the old Countyman / Estate / Traveller. The Italian Castagna conversion is like this - see previous MF posting on this.
Having said all that I think it is a great addition to the Mini family.

Nigel: I would like to see a NightFire Red/Black roof Clubman.

Oooooohhh, Yes! Good choice, Nigel.

Well Greg, I think this is pretty significant, because the Clubman represents the third major new body style introduced in the past 3 years. The last new body variant was introduced in the summer of 2004, when the R52 convertibles were initially changed.

I find the focus on the Clubman quite refreshing as it seemed as everything in MINI world lately revolved around the R56. Quite frankly it gets tiring to hear the same thigs about this car for well over a year(Pro and Con debates)..

The Clubman is now in the spotlight. The R56 is yesterday's news I am afraid (At least until the long promised factory JCW stage II variant is launched).

I understand this is big news, however, I'm getting sick of it. Anything else happening in the Mini world? I would love to hear more about your impressions of your car Gabe.

...a completely flat luggage compartment floor is available as an option.

Huh? Whats the deal if that isn't chosen? Is there a "well" in the wayback?
