Think of it as the Mini Mullet – business in the front and party in the back.
Um… Not sure what to say about that.
ReplyAnother great review of the Clubman from the streets of Madrid. This time, it’s Canadian Driver.

Although not a traditional five-door, the Clubman does indeed have a unique configuration of five hinged portals. Opening the passenger door gives access to a small rear-hinged “club” door (a la Honda Element) that makes accessing the roomier back seat less of a chore. Rounding out the count are two van-style rear doors – just like the ones on the original Traveller. I must confess, seeing those cute doors swing open for the first time had me flopping helplessly on the deck of Mini nostalgia.

ReplyBe a good name for the SAV.
Yeah, an SUV or a pre rusted pickup with a factory gun rack.
ReplyWouldn’t it be more of a “reverse mullet”… party in the front (since it feels like a MINI coupe) and business in the back (added space/utility)? :)
ReplyThis little car could become the new best selling model in the MINI lineup. The hatchback and convertibles are yesterday news. The Clubman embodies years of promises from the BMW Group as far as expanding the MINI brand and attracting a different market demographic from the other 2 models.
I wish them much success with the Clubman. MINI needs to get this car right from the start (Quality control, etc, etc).
ReplyAlthough a coupe remains the best fit for me, I predict Clubman-fever when this baby hits the showrooms. Those infactuated by pics/press apparently are going to have quite a thrill working all those doors and exploring Clubman-specific design bits for themselves up close and personal.
ReplyI think you are right on the money, gokartride. I think MINI is going to be very surprised at how far off they are on their predicted sales of the Clubman, and how well this car does in the North American market. I held off trading my ‘04 for an ‘06 waiting for the Clubman, and am 2nd on the “wait” list at my local MINI dealer.
ReplyLSD standard on the Clubman Cooper S? Yes, please, MINI!!!! :)
