I would have liked a cross country jaunt also, but I can see why they wouldn't do the same thing over again. There's probably a sizable number of folks who participated in the first MTTS who want to do next year's event, but don't want to do the same sort of thing over again.

Personally, with four regionals, it gives me the opportunity to do MTTS and basically pick the number of miles I want to drive. :) Of course, I'll be picking either the Northwest one or the New England one for sure since I've never been to either of those regions. This is also a good thing for those people who are interested in doing the Dragon too!

I responded to the survey and I like the idea of 4 smaller events, as it increases the chances that more folks from more locations will be able to participate. It also increases the chances that the routes will follow the less-traveled, two-lane highways through smaller cities, towns and scenic areas. To me, avoiding the interstate highways is the key to the fun factor.

i too voted for the cross country rally, and heard rumors of it being a 3-week jaunt from seattle to key west! oh well, the idea of 4 smaller events sounds cool too, but wonder why the cross country rally was dead last. seems to me, from reading the comments, that was what most people voted for. will be interesting and fun, no matter what happens. i will try to make it to at least 2 of them, depending on what the venues are. would LOVE to take my MINI to road atlanta, daytona, or even sebring!!!!

It would be really cool if the regional events could be held at tracks with real track time. Divided up into size and ability limited groups. 20 - 30 minute sessions would be nice.

I didn't get a survey either. I just heard here and on WRR to go to the Owner's Lounge to vote.

...4 months? If I am not sure it would be possible for any gainfully employed MINI lover to attend all 4 of the eventsÃ¢â‚¬Â¦ very disappointing.

I'm hoping that the point of having 4 events is so that more people can have a chance to enjoy, at least, part of MTTS 2008. I'm also hoping that each of the 4 events will be very similar so that if you can only make it to one, you won't miss out on much.

I'm GUESSING in the end, it'll all be the same time off from work:

Cross Country: 2 weeks for the whole trek (not including return trip). One Big Event: 1 week plus 1-8(both ways) days travel time. Four Small Events (If you attend all 4): 2-3 days each plus several days of travel time.

I am very disappointed. MTTS was a blast and timed just right… 4 months? If I am not sure it would be possible for any gainfully employed MINI lover to attend all 4 of the events… very disappointing.

Central HAS to be Indy, not Chicago or St. Louis. I’m biased I admit, but driving around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, albeit at a fraction of the speed I wanted to, with 200 of my closest MINI friends was truly an awesome experience, even though it only lasted about 3 minutes. Maybe we could do the (former F1) roadcourse for MTTS. And Indianapolis is a well kept secret, great little country roads within an hour south and lots of things to do downtown.

I guess timing is everything – my car is in two of the three shots used on this article – on the right hand side behind the two people in the St. Louis Arch shot, and toward the center of the photo in the third row from the right in the Indy infield shot.

If they do go with four separate events for MTTS 2008, I hope they don’t forget the SouthEast. I had to drive 1,000 miles from where I live in S.W. Florida to get to the nearest point in Nashville on the MTTS 2006. Maybe taking over Daytona or Sebring or even Road Atlanta for a venue site would work.
