White Roof Radio #211

Just Gabe and I tonight. Todd was watching his Kansas Jayhawks win the Orange Bowl! Before getting into it, db has finally figured out how to record and I think you will enjoy this show.

We pick on GP’s just a bit, but not really. Be sure to check out the new features of the site, especially the subscribe to comments via email. If you are hardcore and prefer to subscribe to comments via RSS, you can find the comments feed here.

Then, news of the week from Motoringfile.

Check back tomorrow for a fun show we did before New Years, joined by Matt Gifford. It was a great fun and I think you’ll really enjoy it! As a bonus, I will have that one ready for you earlier than normal, so keep an eye out here and in iTunes (or the Zune Marketplace) for that to show up.

Should be an interesting few months, kinda also expecting we will start hearing more about the next MTTS. Personally looking forward to checking out the Clubman though not a car that I am personally interested in.

Really looking forward to hearing more about the factory JCW. Do you think you will be sharing any more info with us Gabe about it before the official info comes out in March(ish) time frame?

I’ll release info just before it’s officially released by MINI. Unfortunately not too much sooner.

I am sure that it will be worth the wait, I have a lot of hope that Mini is cooking something good. My word for Mini would be this, Gabe is heading to England. Gabe and Motoringfile has been a very important piece of the Mini community. I would love it if they would give you a sneak peak of the Factory car while your in England and allow you to write a review of it to post after they release the base info. This would do more for Mini than anything any press release from Mini could do, having a trusted member of our community writing a review.

Btw I for one would like to hear/see the audio/video that your were speaking of during the show about your trip.

    DB/Gabe:

When I try to listen to this podcast in my MINI, I am having a hard time listening to the dialogue. I think I may not have my iPod and H/K system tuned accordingly to get the best possibly sound quality.

I have my H/K set to “MINI H/K” and the “DRIVER” setting turned ON. The balance/fader are dead center. Bass is -1 and treble about +5.

My iPod Nano EQ settings are set to “OFF”. When driving, windows up, I can barely hear you guys.

The Nano plugs via iPod adaptor.

    Thanks.

I haven’t had a chance to listen in my MINI yet, but your settings sound dead on for making it sound good.

    DB, quick update….

I changed the iPod Nano’s EQ settings to “Vocal Booster” and adjusted the treble to dead center and bass to -1 under “MINI H/K” settings in the car. BIG Difference. Now I can hear you guys loud and clear, even with the windows down in the expressway.

nothing wrong with your settings – audio quality just has not been great – especially Gabe’s for some reason. Skype borking out?

That’s weird. I haven’t listened with the old Nano yet, but in my MINI with the new Nano going through the auxport adapter I thought this show sounded great!

Could it be an issue with the 1st gen Nano? I have the 4GB model and it seems to me, these are a little low on volume…

  • http://dbmini.us DB

It might be. I still have mine at home, I just haven’t had a chance to test. There used to be issues with it as I remember.

I should be able to check it out tomorrow or later tonight. Thanks!
