As I was saying... as far as the 1-series, Gabe... I'm really tempted, too (especially with my current R56S issue). But IMO you should keep the MINI and look for a restored 2002. What better way to re-live those moments from your childhod and inject those experiences into you young-one? I've been shopping around for one myself. Looks like you can easily get a very nice example for under the $10K mark.

I've had great experience with my local MINI dealership and of-late I have had a MINI Customer Care rep initiate contact with me! Granted I'm dealing with an issue that has now led to a FULL ENGINE REPLACEMENT on a 10-month old car!!! I love the brand and my dealer, but my confidence in the car itself is shaken a bit right now.

I'm referring to my comment on #216. I'll copy it an paste it here if you did not read it.

I looked, and its gone. But it was there. In fact C4 made a comment related to it about the "burbs" which is still there, so I'm not imagining it.

It was something to the effect you are crazy to replace the mini with a 1 series when you could sell the wagon and get a one series - - there was more but its not worth recreating it.

First off, I DID bust on Gabe for proposing he sell his Mini for a 1 series, and I also busted on him briefly for exhibiting latent "recreate my live via offspring" tendencies.

Customer service at Mini USA, great, but all is not always so rosy. My experience with an incorrect build on my car in 07 was talking into a black hole. Could you ever do so well to prevent somebody from going ballistic on a messageboard? Probably not, but they don't have a perfect record either.

DB - what you want are the Koenig Rewinds, 15" and wide. Very cool look. There seems to be a big following for these with cooper owners.
