Its good to see you are making a new site, i was wondering when the urge to make a BMW site would crawl up and bite you.

The urge has been there since I was 2.

That should be your first post gabe.. how to get the terms down for the MINI crowd, then instead of "R's", everything now will be "E's" as refered to body style.

Gabe has been more of a brand activist and not-so-much an apologist for both brands, BMW and MINI.

I think it'll be the same call-it-as-he-sees-it kind of reporting that we've become accustomed to on MF.

I think the dutch dude Hooeydunk or whatever his name was had more to do with those designs in question that Mr Bangle. At least Chris got people talking about the brand again! I also think, correct me if I'm wrong, Gabe liked those cars?

I gotta say even though I have mixed feelings about fawning over the "big boss" brand, I really like the design direction you have going with Bimmer File. I really like the E-code cheat sheet on the right side of the page, you need to keep that.

You could also probably push that early 80's "cut-n-paste" punk edge a little bit more, in deference to the E30 and E21 cars that made the brand such a hit. More chopped-off letters, more contrast-y b&w photos, big blocks of M-colors, that kinda thing.

I know it doesn't sound right at first but I bet that'd be an appropriate frame for the rebellious Bangle era stuff.

Looks like the typical well done Bridger website.

I have a question, I see what seems to be 3 different logos?

One at the top of the page with small dotted color lines between Bimmer & File/pic, one to the left of "Sections" that has a 3 stand alone color stripes with a gradiation at the top and the last one at the bottom of the page with the color stripes between the words Bimmer / File with gradiation at top and bottom.

Still in transition or are my eyes and brain not getting it? Maybe it's a new trend amongst you young designers that this old designer isn't up on.

All In all a very nice website. Kudos! RB

Gabe, first off, congrats on the new site. I think this is something that was bound to happen sooner or later.

Second...Never say never! I remember last year, around this time, when you said that you would never sell your '05 R53 S because you felt that it was still a good match to the then newly released stock R56 S. A few months later (and after MINIUSA gave you a taste of their sugary spoon by letting you keep a R56 S press car to take to the Dragon) you decided to put the R53 up for sale and almost immediately ordered the R56 JCW you currently own.

I see the same pattern developing with the 1-series.... BMWUSA will let you play with a new 135i for a week, you will fall in love with it and then the love affair with the R56 will be history.

You are a BMW fan at the very core and time and time again you have stated that a new Bimmer resembling the 2002 of your childhood will be just about the only car to get you out of your current MINI frenzy.

So what is the point of this diatribe? Go for it man! Don't fool yourself! You are drooling all over that 1-series and you will not be happy until you get the keys!

Get the car that makes you happy. Be it a MINI or a BMW.

BimmerFile is a clear sign that you want to revive the BMW love affair.

Just got the file/phile thing. yeah, I’m slow. So I guess this means you’re getting a 1-Series…

Doubtful it'll be any time in the near future.

Fantastic! Another web site to bookmark, and just in time, as I just got a great deal on a 2004 745i, my first BMW. So far I love it, everything works, and it's a fantastic drive. However, the MINI will stay in the driveway, but now my wife will get to be it's main driver, and so far she is also very happy. Happy Wife, Happy Life.
