MINI Takes the States Registration Now Open

mtts_white.jpg

All the MTTS related details we’ve all been waiting for have arrived. If you want to know all the where and when related questions be sure to check out minitakesthestates.com. But starting today you can not only get full details on each MTTS site but you can register as well. For those new to the MINI world, read this. For the rest of you, let’s first talk about event details.

Miami: June 13-15

Fun, sun and lots of gorgeous hard bodies. We mean all those MINIs of course. The MTTS events kick-off with a weekend in Miami and the Homestead Racetrack with hot laps, music and motoring tales aplenty from MINI racing legend Rauno “The Flying Finn” Aaltonen.

+ More details

Boston: June 20-22

The last leg of The Flying Finn’s rally from Miami and the second big weekend of MTTS fun comes to this city well known for throwing some historic parties on the waterfront. Our choice spot at the University of Massachusetts, Boston campus along the water should work out perfectly.

+ More details

Chicago: July 25-27

MINI Takes the States heads to the heartland to keep the summer of fun rolling along. With a rally kick-off at the Lincoln Park Zoo and a weekend full of events at the famous Road America race track, there should be no shortage of good times and adrenaline.

+ More details

Los Angeles: August 1-3

MINI Owners already feel a little bit like celebrities with all the admiring stares they tend to attract. Just imagine the looks we’ll get when a thousand of us storm the City of Angels. Plus, we’re taking over the Rose Bowl for the MTTS festival, so you’ll get to reenact all your favorite football dreams with your MINI cheering you on.

MotoringFile / Whiteroofradio at MTTS

Yes the rumors are true. MINI USA has asked us to do our thing for the entire MTTS journey this summer. That means there will be representatives of MF and WRR at every MTTS event this summer bringing the action to everyone around the world. Starting off expect to see all three of us at the kick-off in Miami. Then as MTTS turns into a giant MINI road trip on its way to Boston, there’s a good chance Todd and DB will be there riding along with everyone reporting from the road. After a couple weeks of recuperating, MTTS arrives in Chicago. And with Chicago being the home of MotoringFile, you can bet we’ll be there. Expect to see Gabe, Todd and possibly DB doing the whole audio and video thing on and off all weekend. Finally MTTS makes its way to LA where the entire event wraps up. Todd and DB will be in the house to make the final weekend of MTTS one to remember.

Registered. What’s up with the Chicago event being held north of Milwaukee?

Anthony Apr 12th, 2008 Link

I think that it makes sense. Not a whole lot of places in Chicago to have this sort of event. (Also, it works well for me, since I live just outside of Milwaukee.) But it’s really misleading to say it’s a Chicago event–and people who may be staying in Chicago will be in for a bit of a drive to Road America. I guess I’ll wait ’til I see more details.

cct1 Apr 12th, 2008 Link

Yeah, but Road America is worth it….I live in Fon du Lac, so I might try and make this. Is the track going to be open for hot laps, or just touring?

Gabe Apr 12th, 2008 Link

It’s my understanding that for Road America they will offer owners a chance to do a few regulated touring laps. Not sure about Miami Homestead but I’m guessing it’ll be similar. And yes it is unfortunate that most of that weekend will take place 2.5hrs away from the Chicago area. It’s my understanding that the options they had for Chicago didn’t work out in terms of scheduling. However I’m sure the fine folks from Wisconson will be quite welcoming and it’ll be a great event nonetheless.

On a personal note its somewhat ironic that I won’t be able to make much (if any) of the Chicago event due to the combination of the location and my wife’s due date.

Jon Apr 12th, 2008 Link

Hope that everybody gets a chance to hit one or more of these parties. Lets all take the chance to set back and enjoy whats makes the Mini brand special, its community of owners and enthusiast.

Sounds like this is going to be a excellent series of events and I am very glad that Whiteroof and Motoringfile will be covering these events for those of us that might not be able to make it to one or more.

Pedro Apr 12th, 2008 Link

Thanks for the info guys. Was starting to worry you all would never post this up! :)

We are officially REGISTERED!!!!

C4 Apr 12th, 2008 Link

Question….. If I purchase 2 tickets in my name to MTTS, can the second ticket be used by 2 different guests of my choosing?

Vanwall Apr 12th, 2008 Link

Regged. Looks like a full plate this year - AMVIV already, Mini Meet West in June, and MTTS to wrap summer. ;-)

P.S. Gabe - our best wishes will be there for you, the missus, & the small unit, so relax.

Sowellman Apr 12th, 2008 Link

Gabe,

Have you heard whether there will be any limits placed on the number of registrations accepted at each location?

DeathCab4QT Apr 12th, 2008 Link

I know this is a little off subject but… I just heard about this MINI/Mini event in Holland this May from a fellow in England name Jax. It’s called the “International MINI Meet”? Have I missed this event somewhere here or on some other blog? Supposedly closed for registration as of 3/29.

DeathCab4QT Apr 12th, 2008 Link

VanWall no MITMs?

DeathCab4QT Apr 12th, 2008 Link

Logo wise I think it’s odd they only show the next gen MINI Grille.

Jimskater Apr 12th, 2008 Link

Registered!

I believe that International Mini Meet is an event that arose out of the classic Mini club scene, and has since expanded to include new MINIs. It’s hosted by a different Mini/MINI club each time, and is not a MINI corporate event like MINI United or MTTS.

Jimskater Apr 12th, 2008 Link

Whoops! — Reg is for LA

Vanwall Apr 12th, 2008 Link

DeathCab4QT - Sorry, only have so much dough and so much time. Gotta stay west this year. Mebbe in the future. Have fun, Tho!

DeathCab4QT Apr 13th, 2008 Link

Well Vanwall I’ll see you at Mini Meet West look for my booth. I don’t see me doing MTTS, though it seems some of us SCMM folk are. RB

DeathCab4QT Apr 13th, 2008 Link

OOPS! Now I read it’s in my hometown Pasadena. So I signed up. I’m 10 minutes away. Jim, Vanwall need a place to stay? contact me. RB

Gabe Apr 13th, 2008 Link

Have you heard whether there will be any limits placed on the number of registrations accepted at each location?

I haven’t heard anything but I’m guessing the answer is no for general registration at this point.

alpinamike Apr 13th, 2008 Link

Baby or MTTS, thats a hard call, if you can’t go someone will represent from WRR:)

I will be nice to finally see everyone, it is a long drive from chicago to Road America, but with my top down and some warm summer air it can’t be that bad, atleast it brings back what MTTS 06 had, a true drive element to it.

So Todd/DB are doing the whole drive? Miami to boston to Mil-Chicago(thats the new term)to LA, thats a drive!

Yucca Patrol Apr 13th, 2008 Link

ho hum. . . . way to go MINI. . . pick 4 major markets that are saturated with MINI’s and leave the rest of the country out.

It is even worse than the first one that drove across the country on major interstates instead of small twisty country roads.

Excerpt from the Lennep, MT Gazette, Aug. 1 2010

17 Minis descend upon our City today for the fourth & final leg of MINI Takes the States…..

alpha-6 Apr 14th, 2008 Link

I’ll be there (+1)!!!!

BeagleMom Apr 17th, 2008 Link

We’re coming all the way from Atlanta and are registered! But what’s the deal? Is there an event Friday in Chicago, and then we motor Saturday morning all the way to the track? What’s the deal at the zoo? Very confusing.
