I'm dead serious ... wait until our dollar hits $1.13 to $1.14, just to be safe since getting the exchange when it hits $1.15 may be difficult if it's short-lived, then take your money and order it in the States. Even after getting it up the wazoo in charges by BMW Canada for importing and making changes, you'll still be up $10k after it's all said and done.

Trust me, don't waste your money buying a MINI here in Canada.

I couldn’t agree more. Hence I only placed a deposit, and watching very closely how MINI Canada goes about setting up pricing…I’m sure we’ll hear more in the coming months.

Mark, the LEAST BMW Canada can do is offer the aero kit … and THEN lower the price to within $2k of the US pricing NOW. It’s rape buying in Canada. Watch how bad things will look and how ugly things get when the Cdn dollar hits $1.15 soon … it’s coming, I guarantee it. Then try to justify paying $38 for a JCW in Canada.

I’ll save my diatribe on the failure of this car with respect to its final presentation and pricing … monkeys running the show, I tell ya.

Speaking of seeing your color with the JCW body kit on it, if you go on the USA Mini configurator and build your MINI, when you click on the JCW kit, how come it won't display the body kit on the Car? This is oh so annoying. Anyone else have this problem?

I would expect MINI Canada to bring in both the JCW Cooper and Clubman. They are already here in regular and S forms. I don’t see any reason why they would only make the Cooper JCW available….although, they do deny Canadians of options that are available on US spec MINIs, so anything is possible I guess. No word on expected price, but they did say about an 8k premium on the S…So probably starting at $37-38 for the Cooper, $40+ for the Clubman.

My fingers are crossed that MINI Canada will live up to what they told you Mark! That would help justify the expected price difference.

BTW - Did MINI Canada mention a ballpark price to you? Did they mention if the JCW Clubman was making it north of the boarder too?

I talked with MINI Canada, and they confirmed to me that this kit would come with the car as standard. I’m sure they had to do something to make up for the large difference between Canadian and US pricing. With the two dollars trading basically at par, there’s less and less reason for this discrepancy.

It’s funny that they always show the car with the JCW Aero Kit and no where does it say shown with optional Aero Kit. You actually have to roll your mouse pointer over it to notice that it’s an option. It’s really a crying shame they want 30 M for a car without Aero kit. I really wanted the JCW car but with all the options (aero kit, leather, nav, cold weather package, bluetooth) it’s approaching 135i or a 3 series. I think I will wait for the Aero kit and get the clubman and with all the options it would be 35 M. I still can’t make up my mind weather I should get the R56 or the Clubman. One thing for sure I will copy Gabe’s interior options.

The Canadian-spec cars will have the body kit standard? Is this confirmed? Where is this info from Mark?

I was talking to a local dealer the other day, the aero body kit is $3995 CAD (painted and installed) on the regular series cars...

Still waiting for them to show the stock car. Can’t personally wait to start reading the reviewers that note that the suspension and aero kits are all extras, because I know Mini will never allow them to have a base car with its plain jane looks and laughable stock suspension (for a performance car).

Canadian spec JCW cars will receive the body kit as standard eqipment…Perhaps in other markets, that will be the same as well

Yes, and every single photo contains that parenthetical text. All photos seem to show JCW suspension as well but no comment given on that (i.e., no 4x4's like those available at your local dealer). We live in a fine print world, we accept that, but should we?

Regardless of issues with spec, the vid showing the JCWs in surroundings morphing back-and-forth between urban street and race track is a thrill! Glad MINI at least hasn't let the current paranoia about "street racing" get to them. Nicely done!!

It clearly states that the aerokit is "pictured here with the John Cooper Works aerodynamic kit from from the John Cooper Works Turning range of accessories."

It makes me wonder just how bad the information exchange is within Mini if it develops a website that looks exactly like its designer is as confused as badly as the general public and media?

Think either Mini has muddied the water so badly with the introduction of this car unintentionally through bad management or that this this is part of a intentional attempt by Mini to misinform for fear of the feedback from the greater public and community on this car. Either case doesn't make me happy because I personally have a well earned respect for the Mini design, production, and management teams. This package to date has tarnished this image more than a little.

Completely agree. I think MINI is making some blunders with this car and how it is advertised this time around. Seems like some really dumb decisions being made.

Why is the exterior customizer showing the car with it? Wouldn't one HAVE to think that the car comes as displayed and that the body kit -- not listed in the option list -- is part of this car.

I know that the kit is not on the list because that is a dealer option, not factory, but -- how much more misleading to the general buyer could MINI be?
