We’ve heard from a couple UK readers (and hopeful JCW Clubman owners) that MINI UK has delayed the release of the Clubman version of the new JCW factory car? The reason? Simple really. MINI UK has decided to equip all factory JCW cars with the JCW aero-kit including the Clubman. The problem? The Clubman version of the JCW aero-kit won’t be available until March of next year.
The solution? Unfortunately the solution is the problem in that MINI UK has pushed back the introduction of the JCW Clubman to March ’09 to coincide with the aero-kit launch. While it may be a painful wait for some would be owners, at least they don’t have to deal with the factory aero-kit coming standard.
We hope to have this officially confirmed soon.
why hold back – there’s plenty of factory aero kits lying around.
I wonder who really is at the helm of MINI these days?
So far, the introduction of the JCW cars has been a fiasco of monumental proportions. Bad logistics and poor decision making.
If they are going to delay the JCW Clubman for another full year, might as well delay the entire JCW factory lineup. MINI should tweak them properly and re-package them as 50th Anniversary JCW factory cars.
So do we know if this will delay the launch of the JCW Clubman here in the US? I hope we won’t get the ugly aero kit as standard – that would really deter me from buying one probably. My dealer is getting a JCW hardtop as a June build/July delivery confirmed but no allocation for a JCWCM yet
See, that happens with all these words floating around.
We are getting more news every day and know less than before. Does this ‘news’ refer to the ‘after sales JCW Aero Kit’ or rather the ‘we got some plastic left and a totally destoyed body kit form, let’s do some fugly parts’ aero kit ?
Okay folks – read carefully (from above):
>MINI UK has decided to equip all factory JCW cars with the JCW aero-kit, including the Clubman. The problem? The Clubman version of the JCW aero-kit won’t be available until March of next year.
But that decision is pushing the release of the JCW Clubman for another year.
Thanks Gabe ! 🙂
So, let’s see if I got it correct so far:
Under the assumption that no price increase will happen (nobody said anything yet) :
– MINI UK puts the JCW Aero Kit onto the factory JCW MINI Hardtop and JCW MINI Clubman by standard (R-E-S-P-E-C-T !)
– MINI Canada gets an Aero Kit by standard which looks (IMO) horrible
– MINI USA still has to issue a statement along the lines what they will do. That might be the news coming next week 🙂
Would be great if Mini wakes up and includes the JCW aero kit for sure. Still personally for me this car is little more than a bad joke.
I can take any car to any number of after market tuners and there is always one thing consistent. Before touching the power of a car you always improve the suspension. The base suspension in the R56 is questionable about being able to stick the base car’s power to the ground. It is designed to be a little soft and safe but leaves the car very short of being a performance handling car. This is just a small part of the fiasco that is the JCW cars, I believe that Mini really needs to wake up and smell the coffee think in many ways they have been caught asleep at the wheel.
