2008 MTTS is Coming, Will You Be There?

Sure the price of gas is going through the roof with no relief in site. But, if you are really a MINI person, trust me when I say this is an event you are not going to want to miss!

If MTTS this year is half as cool as MINI United was last year, it’s going to be awesome! Check out the MTTS site to get the lowdown on all of the events that will be going on. Don’t forget to subscribe via RSS or email to get those updates as they happen! Of course, the games and activities are cool to be sure, but the real reason you’re going is for the MINIs and the people. If you have never experienced a large scale MINI event, you will be in for a treat!

Heck, you don’t even need to own a MINI to go!

Two years ago, MINI Takes the States motored coast-to-coast with thousands of MINI Owners and enthusiasts joining up for a legendary motoring extravaganza. This year, though, everyone hoped even more folks could get in on the fun. So MINI owners voted to visit four U.S. cities for four separate weekends of good times, including the chance to drive a MINI on an aggressive autocross course.

You’ll even get some seat time at each event to see what all the hub-bub is about.

So pick one that is close to you, do the math, register and start saving your pennies! C’mon, you can skip a few lattes for this gang, really. Remember, if you don’t register you won’t get the cool bag of swag!

Since there are 4 events, nobody expects you to go to all four. That’s our job! Complete coverage from all 4 locations as well as the Rally with Rauno Aaltonen from Boston to Miami. We’ll have audio and video coverage, as well as blog posts and photos.

Yes I am a “real” MINI person, and I have registered, but the price of gas seriously has me rethinking my priorities for the time I can spend doing fun stuff this summer. I loved the 2006 event (my wife and I are actually pictured on the 2006 MTTS website in Santa Barbara), and would love to go again, but things are getting so expensive, it’s getting harder for me to justify that long of a road trip. I live in Utah, so the 10 hour drive down and 10 hours back is pricey. I’m tentative at this point, but would really like to go.

Can’t make it. I’ve already committed to my one big MINI event this year, which is MINI’s On Top (of Mount Washington, NH).

Maybe next time!

I’ll definitely be in Chicago. I only wish I could find someone to split the cost of gas for Boston too. Can’t wait!

Not going to hit any of the events, closest is LA and lets just leave it saying that no part of sitting in multiple lanes of traffic moving at a snails pace qualifies as motoring in my small world view. Vacation time is being held out for Mini United and another big non Mini event.

Mini’s timing with a annual event in New England is going to cut into attendance with MTTS. MOT has been going on long before this and people around here will go there before they go to MTTS. MINI should have looked at the dates first as they themselves have been a sponsors of MOT

Funny thing is that most of the MTTS action is onlly within a few miles from home, so I am lucky that I don’t have to embark in yet another roadtrip for a major MINI event.

NOOOO i love that place, and i really wanted to be there to meet people and race!!! will i still get the coveted goodie bag if i dont make it that night but the next morning for the rise and shine rally? i’ve been really looking forward to this for a while, but when i bought the iron maiden tickets back last month thier were no details about the times for any of the events.

We’ll be in Chicago for a vacation. I’ll probably make it to the kick off party on Friday – depending on where it will be.

I might need a ride from my hotel. ;-)

I registered for Boston but now need to find a good hotel rate to offset the gas prices.

hey dickdavid… send me a pm on NAM. Depending on where you’re staying, I can come and get you for the FRI event. I need to actually register now…

I’ll be at Boston MTTS. Plus I’m headed for MINIs On Top. Two weekends in a row, and tons of fun! But I’m a little behind in my MINI events, having missed them for the past two years…

Bring on the motoring!

As soon as we lock down all of our plans, I just might do that. Thanks!

If the MTTS were in the Bay Area (Monterey again) I would attend. Driving to LA is too far and yes price of gas is an issue. Besides in September (5 to 7th), San Francisco will be hosting the “Magical Mystery Mini Tour” event put on by Redwood Empire Mini Enthusiasts club. Since I’m in the area, it will be practical and easy.

I’m hoping the next MTTS will once again visit the Bay Area.

I was looking forward to the L.A. event but when I found out that it would be in Pasadena in August I decided to stay home. Pasadena is one of the smogiest places in the US and temperatures often exceed 100 degrees in August.

If this included a track event in Norcal, where we happen to have a few very sweet tracks, I’d be interested. As it stands, not so much.

The Indiana group is still waiting for details before trying to figure out where to stay the Chicago portion and then on to Sheboygan! I just wish we had more details, I try to patient but…

When I heard it was coming to Chicago, I was excited. I live in Pittsburgh, but have relatives and a place to stay in Naperville, IL. However once the actual location was announced for Chicago, I was disappointed as it’s really not Chicago. So the 45 minute drive I thought I would have from Naperville, will be more like 2+ hours to get to the venue. So probably not going to make this one, made the first MTTS, and hopefully there will be another. MINI really dropped the ball, there is a large portion of the US that is not close to any of the venues… 2006 was a much better planned event wrt availability to more MINI owners.

Pasadena is about 30 miles from me. On a Friday afternoon, it might take two hours to get there. Saturday and Sunday morning would most likely be 30 minutes going. I’m already registered.

I want to attend MTTS, but the whole “4 locations only” idea is a dead duck in my book.

Back when MINIUSA had the vote running for what type of event to have, I voted for another “cross country” trek, just like the last one. I was very disappointed that it didn’t win the vote.

To me, this isn’t MTTS. This is MT4C. (MINI Takes 4 Cities)

I attended 3 legs of the first MTTS, and I would have tried hard to attend at least part of MTTS had it been another cross-country run. Disappointing, to say the least. Part of the problem with “stationary” events is that they don’t get much exposure outside the MINI community! However, the line of MINIs that drove from coast to coast last year sure did get more publicity! How better than to represent “Let’s Motor” than by actually MOTORING across the country?

Hopefully MINIUSA will bring back the cross-country idea for 2010… even if it is a different route (Miami to Seattle, anyone?)

Signed-up for MTTS Miami.

I wish it was in just about any place else in Florida (Orlando, Daytona, Sebring) but Miami, but I’m just thankful they did choose to have it in this state, Due to extortional fuel prices and my changed economic circumstances, I would not have been able to afford to participate this time if it had been cross-country again. I figured that for the legs of MTTS 2006 that I participated in and the drive up from Florida, I spent around $300.00 in gas. If I were to repeat that route today, my fuel costs would be closer to $500.00. From my home on the southwest coast of Florida, I should be able to get to Homestead and Miami and back and do some running around while I’m over there for around 2.5 tanks of gas, or around $120.00 worth.

Now if I can just get someone to share my motel room in Homestead near the track, I should be able to get my costs down to the level that it’s relatively affordable. Didn’t really need to party on South Beach anyway…

I agree with TSizemore3. I am attending Miami, but I think that I would have preferred Daytona Beach or Sebring. I’m just not a big Miami fan (no offense to anyone)

C4 May 11th, 2008 Link

As much as I like Daytona Beach, I just don’t see an event like this happening there. Besides, how many MINIs do you see there anyway?

I am sorry that some of you despise Miami so much. But like it or not, the vast majority of Minis/MINIs in the state of Florida reside right here. This is MINI central and this is where is at.

We Miami residents are often expected to make the long drives to major MINI events. Why MTTS should be the exception? This is our turn.

Orlando is a major tourist trap where you see MINIs every 3-4 days (If you are lucky).

I guess some of you are mad because now is your TURN to make the roadtrip.

If you still want to come to Miami, make sure to bring your passport and vaccination certificates. We will send you right back to America if you don’t.

I registered a few weeks ago and I noticed on the confirmation page I printed, mentioned something about printing out my ticket with a bar code.

Was there a link I was supposed to click on somewhere on the confirmation page to print out my ticket?

All I did was print out the confirmation page right after I registered then closed the browser. But I do have a credit card confirmation number and a transaction number.

Also, is there a way to add on a guest later on under my name?

ReplyReply
C4 May 11th, 2008 Link

Yes, you still need to print out the e-ticket with the bar code. I believe the confirmation email has a link right to it.

Confirmation email? Hmmm…I don’t recall getting one. Maybe it fell through the spam filter? Anyways, I just emailed them with my credit card confirmation and transaction number.
