MINI of Spain Introduces Two Special Editions
MINI of Spain is following MINI of Italy’s lead with the special editions. Both models will be based on the Cooper S and are expected to be available soon. Here’s the rundown of both models:
The Oxford Edition:
– Biege Leather interior
– 17″ Crown Spokes
– Crome Interior
– Crome Exterior
– Oak interior trim w/Oak steering wheel
– Bluetooth w/USB Connection
The Sport Edition:
– 17″ Web Spoke wheels
– Sport Suspension
– Limited Slip
– Xenons
– Chrome Exterior
– Brushed Alloy Interior
– Anthracite headliner
– White or Black stripes
– Bluetooth w/USB Connection
Total numbers will be limited to 300 with the Sport edition being 120 and the Oxford edition 180 respectively.

The Oxford package also includes the Radio Boost CD, which is optional in Europe, but standard for us.
The Sport Edition sound great!
Althoug, why would MINI add Chrome Exterior for a sporty look?!?!
I don’t see anything on the sport edition that isn’t normally available.
Not a fan of the Jaguar wood look on my sports car. Don’t get it.
Might as we move to Espanna? Well if you are a Yank I’d say unless you like losing most of you income… don’t. 😉
what’s so special about the sport edition? Can’t they get those options in Spain? The oak crap I can see as being special.
DB, at least in Europe all those high taxes go to pay for massive public transportation infrastructure and a host of other things that our “Superpower” nation can’t provide.
I also think wood is a little out of place on a car. But have you ever seen a Classic Mini with wood dash, door panels and steering wheel? Baby that makes for a good looking ride.
What makes the Sport Edition special is the ability to get all the sport oriented options in one bundled package – presumably at a lower price than paying for the individual options separately.

chrome is also necessary for a sporty look, I would say it’s necessary for all Minis to look achieved, if not with the exterior Works kit
The Mini derivatives The Riley Elf had full width wood dashboards with doors on glove boxes, and the Wolseley Hornet had an oval oak overlay on the centre binnacle. These models were considered the “luxury” Mini models for folks willing tov shell out more cash on a better spec car including leather upholstery.
So there is a market out there. If you look at the MINI parts catalogue the wood laminate dashboard is available for retrofit.
Actually, RB, if you can work on contract with a company back home while living abroad (like I do), you can make your normal US salary and probably save enough money to buy the car in cash. Living and working abroad means you’re exempt from federal (and obviously state) taxes on the first $87.5 K of your salary. Anyway you do the math, that’s huge savings.
As for the car, sounds like a cool mix. I like how the other national MINI groups are coming up with these package deals. We’ve only seen the one for the convertible. Would be cool to see more…
Aaron, I went to the exchange $100 bucks on a very recent trip to Holland got back €61,00. Do you make that much more to offset the goods you have to buy to live? Petrol? What is it now €9 a gallon. Sounds more like you break even, maybe.
But that’s pretty kool never heard of that tax free stuff. You live it so you must be right.
Someone mentioned the metro systems over there, yup very kool, at least in Holland.
If I owned a Jag or Bently or some other car like those wood trim, OK. But I never liked it even way back in the 1960 English sports cars friends had. Never got it.

Yeah, healthcare systems that don’t make a competitive disadvantage to US businesses suck. Laws on keeping hazerdous materials out of products suck (no formaldahyde presevatives in wood). And currency that doesn’t swirl around the bowl leaving skid marks sucks real big time. Societal mores that find living on credit wrongheaded suck too. Think we don’t have socialist tendancies? Ever read a farm bill? No bid contracts? Oh, and I forgot the biggest one to most citizens.. The home mortgage interest deduction. Freakin’ lazy ass homeowners! But I forgot, closed-minded cluelessness is something the US has in spades and is proud of…. Funny, the original settlers came, in part, to the US because of the intolerance of the host countries. Now we’re the intolerant ones!
And I really did like the wood dashes of cars like the TR6. With the glove door cut out of the same piece of wood so that the grain matched. Newer apliques don’t really float my boat though..

In what other country can you sneak into illegally and expect social benefits, atms in your home language, and liberal politicians fighting for your right to vote and get a drivers license? And if it sucks here, why are people breaking their necks to get here. The same reason they have for a couple hundred years. The USA thought not perfect beats that crap out of any country in any measurable way. Those who feel they found another one better are free to move there as we have no barb wire fences or machine gun toting guards keeping you here. Social tendencies? You bet we got em’, thanks to the libs who feel my hard earned money is theirs to spread around to buy votes. But in spite of the problems(aka libs)this is the place to be. You’re forgetting that all that debt is yours too! Who’s gonna pay that if no one thinks is thier social responsibility to pay taxes? BTW, the US isn’t the only country in the world with illegal immigrant problems. They pretty much are planet wide with those from lower standard of living/less industrialization going into higher standard of living/more industrialized.
Back on topic, what makes these cars interesting is that they come from the factory with a VIN correlated to a specific option package. If there are any unique features for them, even just a sticker, there’s a chance that they may have some cache value. If there’s nothing distinct, then it’s just a marketing excersize. But even then, there might be some value. There were “twister” versions of some cars, the GTCS and High Country Special mustangs and the like, and they command a bit of a premium over other cars without the designation. Who knows what the spanish cars will be worth in 40 years!

It is cowardly and pathetic to attack your country from the safety of a computer. Shameful The words of a tiny little person.
I always though that critical self examination was a marque of a healthy debate and a strong society. Self impvoment requires a critical eye to both what is good and what isn’t. For what it’s worth, I’ve never gotten a good response to the “It’s my money” mantra when presented with the fact of the existing debt, and that as a democratic society WE decided to spend it first, and then act as though it was “them” who took the cash. Last time I checked, we do get to vote for our leaders. LAst time I checked, it was the duty of the citizenry of a democracy to go with the will of the people as expressed by the electoral system we’ve chosen to adopt. (I know, more of those small minded thoughts).
So instead of actually speaking to any of the points of content in my post you chose to call me small minded. Real great way to have a healty debate.
Are not gov subsidies a form of socialist policy? Is not the mortgage home interest deduction a government intervention in pure lassaiz faire market mechanics? Isn’t there a national debt that needs some sort of service? While one can debate whether the increased amount of home ownership is a good or bad thing, the subsidy to all us homeowners surey is market intervention in it’s most basic form.
I’m not attacking our country, only a small minded person would think so, what I will do is point out areas where we can do better in the hope of improving from within. Or are there those that think the US of today is the truly Utopian mecca for which there can be no improvment?

Your type tries to equate confiscatory taxes to the moral equivelant of serving your country. What crap. Taxes are wasted of sopcialized program and wasteful beauracracy. Penalizing those who make good decisions and bust the tails working so it can be taxed at a higher percentage is a criminal punishment on those who should be rewarded for acheiving. If your type was so high minded why is it your answer to donating to charity is “I pay taxes”. The fact is is the vast majority of philanthropy is done by people of my mind set. I give a great deal to charitable institutions and volunteer my time as well every week for the under priviledged. Funny, but in six years of doing so I’ve yet to meet a liberal. Quit hiding behind the debt word, you have no clue what your talking about. BTW. I don’t feel this is the place for this, however, when a-holes take a cheap shot at America, they have it coming. I did not start this. Take your jealous “get even with those with a life an a pair of dice” philosophy elsewere. Call Air America or some other failing institution and take a hankie with you.
