MTTS Update: Chicago and LA

MTTSWe are joined again by Gina Koutros from MINIUSA to give us an update for the final 2 stops of MTTS at Chicago and LA.

Those are coming up quick! Chicago is July 25-27 and LA is August 1-3. There is still plenty of time to get get registered. Remember, registering get you a very cool bag of swag, access to all of the events, including being able to drive a JCW MINI on the AutoX course they have set up at each event! It’s a lot of fun gang and I highly recommend it!

If you have any questions about the upcoming events leave them below. Gina will be keeping an eye out for them and provide answers toward the end of next week which I will be posting here.

Finally, don’t forget that the LA event also marks the 3rd anniversary of White Roof Radio. Both Todd and myself will be there and we will be ready to make party. Come join us!

Update. For those of you that are wondering, the hotels for LA will The Westin and The Hilton, both in Pasadena. Watch for updates to the MTTS site later today.

When I registered, I planned to come up for the Saturday & Sunday in LA. I now have a family wedding to attend on the Saturday. Will I be able to come up for Sunday only & (perhaps most importantly) get my swag bag?

Gabe, when will get the Chicago attendee information. Will they be contacting everyone who registered? If not, when and where does it all start. Thanks

Jim, At Boston, they were still manning the “swag bag stand” on Sunday.

Doug,

It’s all on the MINI Takes The States site.

I will be making the drive from Toronto, Canada but am concerned since I heard that some events at MTTS Boston/Miami, such as the track drive, were for those aged 21+. I am just a few months shy of my 21st birthday but would be devastated to come all that way and be turned down:(. Can anyone confirm or deny the 21+ age limit for MTTS Chicago??

Christina – we will check and let you know as soon as we find out.

Christina – You could borrow my wife’s TX id. You’ll have to try and make yourself look a little older. LOL! Just kidding.

Just tell them 20 in Canadian is equal to 21 US. ;-)

18 Years is the age to Drive the Auto X MINIs including the JCW from 3-5 PM. As for the parade lap, initially it looks like 18 is the min. required age at Road America. We will let you know if we hear otherwise but I think you’ll be fine.

Is there an address for the first event on Friday night, so that I can plug it into my GPS. See everyone soon,

ReplyReply
Anthony Jul 13th, 2008 Link

You can plug the following address in: 800 W Maxwell St, Chicago, IL The entrance to the garage is one block east on Maxwell.

You can plug the following address in: 800 W Maxwell St, Chicago, IL The entrance to the garage is one block east on Maxwell.

Now I’m getting confused. The MTTS2008 site says the Chicago kick-off party will be at: “The Windy City Fieldhouse, University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC), Chicago, IL”

When I look up The Windy City Fieldhouse, the address it gives me is: 2367 W. Logan Blvd. Chicago, IL 60647-2035, which from what I can tell is not near UIC.

Is there a different Windy City Fieldhouse that is closer to the UIC campus, or is there a branch of the UIC campus further north on the Kennedy Expy?

ReplyReply
Anthony Jul 13th, 2008 Link

UIC is one of Windy City Fieldhouse’s partner locations. This entry at the CMMC web site has a PDF with a map.

No problem. I only hope other people don’t get confused as you did. It would be very helpful if MINIUSA listed the actual address on the MTTS blog!

Just a suggestion . . . Why not a YouTube-type feed of MINI related videos using thumping music piped onto a big screen at the Rose Bowl?

Hello! how do you register for the JCW test drive at the MTTS chicago?

What were in the goodie bags from the Miami and Chicago stops? Were they the same, or are they different at each location?

Register for the event and be at Road America from 3-5 PM on Saturday. Bring your driver’s license and be over the age of 18. That’s it.

Thanks for your help, Dick and Todd!

I am really trying to make it to MTTS Chicago. I have final exams the week after and I can’t really afford the time off that weekend to do anything other than studying. BUT what I keep reminding myself is how much I regret not attending MTTS 2006. And how MINI United 2007 was one of the best experiences of my life.

Ok, so if there’s no 21+ age limit then I’ll most likely see you guys there… fingers crossed!! :)

Haha!! That’s a good one, I’ll say it’s because of the exchange rate ;)

Gina, can you promise a quake-free MTTS in Pasadena? My car was doing the Chino HIlls hop yesterday. I thought maybe it was because you and the rest of the Mini folks hit the Southland.
